I’m not sure at all it has been that long, but its been a while. I’ve tried rebooting my laptop (running weather display latest build), I’ve tried resetting the Davis Vantage Vue weather station. I’ve googled looking for mass data logger outages. Help? What else should I try? I’m a member of CWOP and they will soon be send fix it emails of encouragement. The windows running laptop is getting very long-in-the-tooth, but appears to me to be working as it should.

Two things come to mind. First, try powering down the console and remove the batteries. then unplug the datalogger and reseat it in the console. It’s very easy to dislodge the datalogger when moving the console or if something tugs on the cable… Then replace the batteries and power up the console from main power.
Second thing is check the comm port. Make sure the laptop is still showing the comm port the datalogger is setup to use. If you don’t see the comm port listed in the device manager try unplugging the datalogger cable from the laptop and reinsert making sure you hear windows ding-dong sound when you plug the datalogger back in.
Let us know how you make out…
Well, I setup another laptop to test with and low and behold, the log files were created and updated. So, it appears my long-in-the-tooth laptop is toast! Thanks for your help. I’ll get a replacement or possibly a raspberry pi and see if I can get back up and running!

Now I’m having trouble setting weather display on the new(er) laptop. I’m getting log files alright, they just don’t have correct weather data in them. I’m wondering, actually guessing, this is a USB-C machine. Does the Davis usb data-logger work with USB-C?

When I updated my wd install on the new machine, a couple cron exe’s were name iterated cron.exe → cron2.exe instead of just replacing the old executables. my bad, sloppy with the dialog during update install. Correcting the files names and deleted the old exe’s got me running on the new laptop. I think I’m all good now! Anybody out there want to help me get my aprs/winlink gear setup? feel free to pm me.
