I notice that some here speak of a full install of WD. What is that compared to just installing a newer version over the old? That is what I have been doing with updated versions. Is a full install actually removing all of WD and then reinstalling? What is the purpose? Do get rid of any corruption?
Generally when I speak of a Full Install I am referring to the full download versus the .zip download…
The differences between those is discussed here:

Basically the .zip will contain program updates, bug fixes and many new features while the Full download is needed when there have been updates to ftpupd and the clientraw ftp program…
As far as a New Install from scratch, some folks have done that for a number of reasons, wanting to simply start over records wise for one reason or another, new machine and they didn’t have a backup or having really bad problems and they think this would their best bet. However Brian usually recommends trying a second new WD install as noted in this FAQ, Installing multiple instances of WD on your computer, before throwing in the towel on a current installation…

main thing:
no files need to be deleted when updasting WD, no reboot of the pc needed either (generaly!)
just exit WD before running the installer or copying the new zip version to where wd is installed already
