Error Message: DeleteFile failed; code 5

While upgrading from v10.37P build 28 to v10.37P build 36 I got this message (below) and I can’t get past it, even if I tell it to “Ignore”.

Does anyone know how to complete the upgrade?

Thanks,
Larry

Do you have WD loaded here C:\wdisplay?

And are you updating using the .exe file or .zip, and make sure your updating it to the sameplace you have wd loaded now.

Do you have all WD functions shut down, including the separate webcam program?

The program is, and has always been, located in “C:\Program Files\wdisplay”.
I am using the exe file to update as I have before.

I have WD shut down. I don’t use a webcam so I don’t know of a program for that.

Thanks
Larry

Did you check under task manager to see if anything relating to alarms in WD was running? Sound alarms? lame_enc.dll is an MP3 encoder/decoder and would be the only reason why it would balk about trying to overwrite the dll.

Make sure WeatherD is not running in task manager…if it is, kill it. Then try the upgrade again.

If it doesn’t, then delete the dll and try upgrading again. Or at the very least, rename the dll file, then try upgrading again.

most likely WeatherD.exe was still running, check for that, as BigOkie has pointed out

Hi folks,

Well, I looked in Task Master and no W-D apps or Proscesses I could recognize as part of W-D were running. I looked through the folder C:\Program Files\wdisplay\and killed LAME_ENC.DLL. I also found there was a folder C:\Program Files\wdisplay1 that had a full population of W-D files but nothing id the weather memory files. Turns out this was a trial version from much earlier I guess so I killed that too.

After those changes the upgrade to W-D v10.37P build 36 went in easily. Thanks to all for your help.
