E-mail notifications contain the whole post [fixed]

Was going to edit and ask “Do we need Weather-Watch.com in sender and subject?”

And “Do we need url of (presumably) the member’s avatar to be visible?”

[Maybe it isn’t visible in some e-mail programs. I set Outlook to prevent automatic download of pictures. . . personal choice, I know.]

The only control I seem to have over Sender (From) is whether to use full name or just username. It’s set to use full name, if one exists. I can’t remove the Weather Watch part of this field (or I can’t find a setting that seems to allow me to do that).

I could remove Weather Watch from the subject, but for Gmail (which I use) for most lengths of username/full name I wouldn’t see much of it in the From field so it’s useful to see it in the subject, e.g.

Whilst a lot of the Discourse email templates are configurable I don’t see a template for notifications and therefore can’t see a way to remove the avatar from notifications.

OK, but most people would recognise usernames before full names - I think? (I’ve never used mine before on the Forum. ) Of course, default setting for full name is username, anyway.

OK

I don’t see the avatar url in your e-mails. . .?

Sorry for being such a pest. . . we didn’t get to discuss e-mails in testing :slightly_smiling_face:

I think that would vary by user. For example I recognise NorCal Dan more than dcrooks. Username is used where there is no full name.

You don’t see an avatar URL in my message because I download images so the message includes the image rather than the URL.
