My WD PC has been running for quite a while now without any problems until lately.
The WD Real Time FTP had started to have problems. It would loose the plot and get hung up. Closing and restarting WD would fix this.
Then it all came to a climax the other day. Came home from work to find the PC had shutdown. It seemed to powerup again without any problems, only to find the same thing the next day. This time it didn’t want to fire up. A press of the power button got a very small flick out the the fans.
Further investigations, I tried a spare Power supply. It booted up instantly. I opened up the old PSU to find the can missing off of one of the capacitators:- There’s the problem.
Replacement PSU installed and now I also notice that WD Real Time FTP keeps doing what it is supposed to do.
Here I was thinking there was a problem with the software and all along it was the hardware. Just goes to show.
