designing a weather station

Hi guys,
PLease help me out here.
I have a school project which requires me to design a weather station, which measures;

wind speed, wind direction, temperature, and atmospheric pressure

the system I design, should include signal conditioning and aplification for each sensor.

furthermore, the maximum input to the A/D convertor should be limited to 5V DC.

I have been trying hard to undertake this by myself, but I am finding it very hard. :frowning: … as I cant find any weather sensors that operate all under 5V DC. Furthermore Iam not sure whether I need to include an Op-amp or not… or how do I fo about the signal conditioning?

Please please please can somebody help me out.

Any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Here try this link

It is a SCP1000 pressure sensor with operating voltage of 3.3

Storm017

thanks for your help

iam thinking of using the MCP3002 Analogue to digital convertor, it has 2.7V to 5.5V supply

do you think it will work?.. therwise I might use the AD7822 3V/5V, 8-Bit, 2 MSPS Analog-to-Digital Converter

furthermore, does anyone know whether I will need a microprocessor for the weather station or not?

how about a 1-wire setup from hobby boards?

They have breakout boards for Humidity/Temp and Baro. I believe you would need some sort of processor.

ye, ur right!
I think the 1 wire solution is probably the best.
I have just spent alot of time checking through their products.

Just to confirm, i believe I need the following components for my weather station:
1) DS2450 1-Wire Quad A/D Converter (to convert the windspeed, wind direction into digital readings) ← Max input= 5V DC.
2) TAI8570 Barometric Pressure Module
3) TAI8520 Temperature Module
4) DS9097U-009 Universal 1-Wire COM Port Adapter (to get the readings on the computer).
5) TAI8515 Weather instrumentation kit (this measures the wind direction, wind speed, temperature)

Do i need separate modules for the Wind direction and Wind Speed, like I have used for the Barometric pressure and Temperature?.

Please tell me if I am going about it the right way, or if I have missed anything guys.

I really appreciate any help.

Many Thanks.

I don’t know what the class or level is, but if I was your teacher I doubt that I would consider that solution to be “designing a weather station”.

that is true!!
I guess I was trying to take a short cut! #-o

looks like i better carry on researching for components…

if anyone can point me to the right direction it would be very kind of you,
