Day missing from NOAA Style Report

Hello,

I’m going back through and doing quality check on all weather data just making sure I have all 30/31 days per month of the year.

As I’m doing this I’m finding a lot of days not showing up within the NOAA style report and been trying to fix these problems. I looked at the log file for one of them and can’t seem to find out why March 30, 2011 is not showing up in the NOAA style report and was wondering if you could help me pin point what I’m missing.

The NOAA style report / Monthly Climatological Summary for Oct. 2011 lists everything but the 30th date.

29 49.7

Just to add to my confusion here’s another interesting one…

On Average/Extremes - for Dec 2008

Day Temp Wind Gust Rain Max Temp Min Temp Av Hum Av Baro Av Dir Wind run Windchill
26 50.3

try converting the logfile for those months to data file
(via action , convert WD logfile to data file)

also you do not say which version/build of WD you are using
(that info should always be provided)

I done that already. Doesn’t help. I just get the same result. I’m running Weather Display 10.37R Build 70

I'm missing 28-29.....don't remember what happened that day but it's not in log file.
if the data is missing from the logfile like that, then its not going to show up in the reports

you could recover that data from your wunderground data (i.e download and import that days csv logfile (and then combine that generated logfile into the logfile you have now (back up files first)

The problem isn’t that the data is missing, the problem is that the Average/Extremes (or NOAA reports) is computing incorrectly; even after doing the convert tool.

When I run Average/Extremes for just the days for 26, 27, and 30 i get data ; BUT when I run the month I get 26, 29, and 30 for NOAA report. There’s multiple problems here. A.) 27 was given to me via the “View Selected Day now” but not in “Update whole month now” B.) I see a line for 29 but based on the log file I don’t have anything for the 29th in there but yet according to “Update whole month now” I should?!

Here is the Daily NOAA Report to help understand the problem…

http://www.portalesweather.net/dailynoaareport122008.htm

is the data in the logfile complete?

As far as I can tell.

I’ll attach the log file. Keep in mind in order for me to upload it to the forum I had to shrink it down to size format. I removed dates 1-25 to help with file size and allow me to post it here.

Here you go…

P.S. I have the original file. I just copied and renamed it to help me post this here…

122008lg_forum.txt (306 KB)

it would be much better to instead .zip and email me it

also you could check it with a logfile checker (use the forum search about that)

there is data missing in your 122008lg.txt file
i.e days 28 and 29
27 12 2008 6 59 27.4 60 15.3 30.138 22 22 250 0.00 0.000 0.450 36.800 27.4

and then the logfile 102011lg.txt has a repeated day 12
(which then makes the logfile too long as so day 30 is missed out)

12 10 2011 17 7 76.1 17 28.1 30.078 1 2 22 0.000 0.000 0.610 5.110 76.1

Right! So why does the NOAA report not show 27 that IS in the log file but it shows me 29 that is NOT in the log file?

AHA! Didn’t see that. Fixed it. Thanks!

so you have it fixed now?

Not for the 122008lg.txt one. That’s why i put “Right! So why does the NOAA report not show 27 that IS in the log file but it shows me 29 that is NOT in the log file?” under my previous post.

Although the second issue, 102011lg.txt, has been fixed!

1 for 2

because day 27 is missing data at the end of the day
27 12 2008 6 59 27.4 60 15.3 30.138 22 22 250 0.00 0.000 0.450 36.800 27.4
27 12 2008 23 0 27.4 60 15.3 30.138 22 22 250 0.00 0.000 0.450 36.800 27.4
27 12 2008 23 59 27.4 60 15.3 30.138 22 22 250 0.00 0.000 0.450 36.800 27.4

and also day there needs to be the start of day 28 there as well

if you fix the missing data (using the method I posted above)
then it will come correct

the last day in the log file will show in the report too

I understand but why is it showing up in the "On Average/Extremes " tab then? Why does it show up under one tab (On Average/Extremes ) and not the other (NOAA Style Reports)? That’s what I don’t understand.

If data is missing on a given date, shouldn’t Weather Display just not process that data for the date period? Maybe instead of putting actual data on either or tabs as mentioned above why not just put N/A or something to that effect since it’s miss leading and not correct.

On another note: I can’t import the data from Weather Underground because it’s not even on there. I guess I didn’t setup WU until 2009. Since this is a 2008 log file (probably me testing or who knows what it is) I can’t get that info.
