Davis VP2 wireless Install Solar charging circuit - resolved

I finally had to replace my Davis vp2 cabled after 15 years of service. Can’t complain about that. I have a new vp2 wireless being delivered today. I really liked the site I have my original unit in as the unit has been spot on with temp etc. Problem is it’s facing north and I’m now wondering if going wireless was wise because of the solar panel. The solar panel will face north and never be in direct sunlight. I don’t have any optional sensors but wondering how much sun these things really need to charge up the capacitor. It will see light just not direct like it would if facing west.

I just don’t want to be replacing batteries every month. I think I’m answering my own question but really looking to see if others have had the panels facing north and if it’s enough for the cap.

Thanks
John

I think you’ll find you can mount the VP2 with solar facing south.

I installed the new system facing south so I should be ok. Thx
**. The fact that I could use Brian’s WD software to put in an offset for direction to 180 degrees was huge. WD is just awesome.
