Davis VP2 Downtime for Repairs

On Monday, 8/20, I’m going to have to do some repairs on my VP2, including replacing the rain gauge, aspirator fan and battery, plus a general cleaning.

Other than closing WD during this time, what’s the best way of putting the VP2 console offline? Just pulling the power or something else?

There’ll be an 8 hour or so data loss but I’d like minimal disruptions on startup.

Thanks

You can put the console into setup mode by pressing the DONE and down arrow (-) buttons at the same time, and no data will be recorded.
To exit setup hold down DONE for a few seconds to get back to normal recording.

Thanks, Martyn. Great tip!

No problem - however I just found Putting Console into Setup Mode. which says the console setup screen may time out after 30 minutes and go back to normal depending on firmware version, so something you may need to be aware of.

I remember that time limit. Guess I’ll have to work fast. I’ll unplug the various sensors in the unit to be safe.

Thanks

I’d work fast to minimize data loss downtime, but not work fast for fear that the console may turn back on…just removing power seems like the most logical thing to do.

unhook all the sensors from the jacks. The only info to the console will be what is done by the console.

If you have a website-put up a disclaimer until you have it done. As for WU-you may lose your gold star. Bummer

Thanks, I’ll unplug everything. And I’ve got a message on my website. If anyone sees it
