Actually I havent paid too much notice, but there hasn’t been any ET reading here for a while if thats any help with anything…
Did you say wind farm earlier?? are they using your data for the feasibility?

wind farm:
it was a public meeting against it
geneisis want to put one up just north or kariotahi beach, on the coast
it will be just behing the coast hills skyline, and only 8 km’s from waiuku
105m high, 14 of them!
the stirrers said they will sounds like helicopters coming, but they will never arrive, and youwill never sleep peacfully again, and your heart beat will be irregular from the low frequency sounds, your tv reception will be not so good…etc etc
ET:
i will make that any station with a solar sensor has acess to the VP UV/solar?ET graph, like I have in the screen shot
for the next version
the et not plotting correct using the VP data means I am not using the correct data position but if you could get the raw live data to be saved to a file, then I can look into that (i.e under setup, general and misc, raw ultimeter data logging: turn that on, then the raw data goes to a file called rawultimeterdata.txt along with the current UV and solar readingse.

but I also need to know the current ET number on the console
i have done some looking in the code, and i think i have found a problem with the ET for when inches are in use…
the scale was not being set correct for a VP…
Still having the initial problem. Now,if I let it run the data does update. I do get in the log file a bunch of in place of date 000000 0000 stuff. And I have not yet found the txt file that stores the diagnostics yet.
I must be doing something wrong here.
Any way, Iget the vp graphs and things, but when WD starts up it doesn’t download the datalogger and for the time and date things still blank.
I am not sure why it started doing this . Perhaps its lonely . I will do some tinkering on my end. Hmmm that didn’t sound right or wholesome. tinkering on my end. Nope not as it seems.
Maybe something to do with log files. Lets see what december brings.
ARGHHHH
Knee better, security system in place, wife has cold, cheers
ardvark, a new 9.94e , ready now ,creates the file
carefully check your time and date on the console, or better, go to setup, datalogger setup, davis data logger, then click on set time on the datalogger to the pc time (or words to that effect )
now
vpdownloaddata.txt
is to be found where you have WD installed
e.g c:\wdisplay
also, i found a bug wuith the vp uv solar graph not loading back the data when you start up wd (would work if you had a certain use metar condition set!)
ok, found the file, finally and it is completely blank.
is that after a extract at start up?
is the month and year correct on the console?
go to setup, datalogger setup, davis data logger, then click on set time on the datalogger to the pc time (or words to that effect )
Did as you said , strange.
there has to be a bright side to all this. Must be some quirk. I wonder if it is a conflict of some sorts. It isn’t extracting the data fromthe data logger, but does take the direct data and records that.
Ok we will figure this out eventually. Sometimes these things just happen. At least when it is figured out we can advise someone else.
I mailed you the text file.
I did some fiddling, turned off the internet connection, and disabled the virus, fire wall, Norton stuff.
went into the program, reset the graph, barometer, turned off the indoor temp ( I didn’t have this turned on before, so I turned it off now) graph, reset the extremes and did a daily reset early.
Rechecked the time of the data logger again. exited and shut the whole computer down for a bit. rebooted , accessed WD (with the firewall and all on board and working) and I got data. I will send it to you now .
I am going to shut down WD for the next 10 hours as it is time to see my 8 darlings at school ( this is a whole different story with these kids. The even like elephant jokes) .
When I get home I am changing my UPS out so I will have the station down for a bit while I sort the 10 odd cords and power cables out ( plan on putting the weather stuff on its own ups and upgrading to a fancier one with more software incompatibilites to spice up my life) and then reboot with WD and see what happens.
Cheers
ps , although not the place, I hope that when problems are solved and things are working we all post on the thread that things are fine, so others won’t think as they read that the solution is not possible.
your problems might stem from weather link downloading the data then clearing it ardvark?
(as the download file you sent me has all 255’s in it, i.e no data is available)
Tom, please try a new 9.94e
it doesn’t appear from the software that that is happening. But I need to install a new usp and clear some clutter underneath the desk, so I’ll take the station off line and see what gives.
I will let you know.
No I don’t think the weatherlink is dumping the logger. I do have another logger in the other room and can swap it out and see if its the logger.
However, what I am noticing is that this evening I was off link and the computer was down while I did some major cable rerouting and simplifying. When it booted I did an immediate start upof WD. The vptxt filewas empty again. Shut everything down except the wd and got a o in 1 and 255’s in the rest.
Just can’t put a finger on it.
when very first starts, it wipes that file clean…
but all the 255’s is a mystery
but there are 2 others with a problem as well,
and yet others are OK…
ardvark, i got this email from another person who has the same trouble:
Brian
I think that I have found a solution!! I had recently changed the batteries in my console to the Vantage Pro. My wife was reading the troubleshooting book for the data logger. She discovered that it should make three beep when it receives new power. When I had changed the batteries I never disconnected the power cord. This morning I unhooked the power cord and the batteries and then hooked them back up. It seems to have fixed the problem. I thought that you would like to know so that you may tell the other person that had this problem. I hope this helps them too.
Dave and Jill
I will give it a try and let you know
no change, same old same old, but in a new directory. I bet it might be a software conflict. I have a firewall, virus, usp monitor and interwarn inthe back ground. I will try this and see what offending software it might be.
after powering down the data logger, do you then reset the time/date?
is the logger file still got the 255’s in it ?
(which to me points to a hardware thing)
