Davis Vantage Pro 2

OK. I have com 4 selected in weatherlink at 19200 baud rate. Weatherlink works. Now I selected com4 in wd with the same baud rate and i still get nothing being read from the vp2.

Tony

make sure weatherlink is not running at the same time as WD
(then restart WD with the correct com port selected and baud rate)

I did that. Weatherlink is closed and I am just running WD.

Tony

Did you install this driver CP210xVCPInstaller under this folder WeatherLink\Support\Drivers\USB To UART Drivers 5.30.

Chuck

Chuck,

I have a com 4 now. Whereas before I did not. I did exactly as you said in weatherlink. I changed it to Com4 with a baud rate of 19200, which is the default. Weatherlink is fine on Com4 and serial being selected.

The problem is WD not being able to talk to the vp2 on com4 at 19200. I even tried changing the baud rates including changing the baud rate on the com port itself. No good. I’m not sure why the software is not functioning at all.

Tony

Did you check out the FAQ for the mentioned earlier.

Chuck

regarding the drivers?

does weather link now show thats its a USB to serial connection and not the USBexpresse mode?

Check your device manager again and check under ports or USB and see what you got.

Chuck

weatherlink is now set up as serial connection on com 4. That’s is what you had me do by virtue of running the conversion file from Davis. Correct?

See my above post and see what driver is running now.

Chuck

In device manager it says under the “Ports”.

Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge (Com4).

Tony

what does it say across the top of the WD program?

Weather Display - Ver 10.37N - Davis Vantage Pro

By chance have you restarted the computer.

Chuck

Been there, done that and got the tee shirt.

Can you post a screen shot of your Weather Display Settings Under Weather Station Type Selection.

Chuck

Chuck,

I unistalled the software and deleted the wdisplay file folder. Did a full re-install and it is now talking with the unit. Something must’ve been hosed up with an ini file or dll. Seems like it is talking. I’ll monitor this for a bit. I guess on with the rest of the setup. Thanks for taking the time to try and figure this out. BTW, I’m down to only 1 hair on my head now.

Tony

I am glad you got it working. If you need anymore assistance don’t hesitate to ask.

Chuck

Chuck,

How well versed are you at the webpage configurations. I am uploading to my own server. What I have noticed is the apparent delay in the webpage giving real time data from the VP2. Is this software capable of providing real time data and refeshing the page accordingly without having the viewer hit refresh?
