I have a Davis 6163 an a Weatherlink Live 6100. The way that I understand things is as follows:
- The ISS transmits data that is received by the WLL and by the Console.
- Weatherdisplay pulls data from the WLL every couple of seconds for whatever use I set up in WeatherDisplay.
- The WLL sends data to www.weatherlink.com at whatever interval I am paying for. 15min., 5min., 1min.
- The console does not, and can not send data to anyone without adding a logger or something via USB or serial connector.
If all of the above is true, then do I even need a console?
Now comes the part where I am confused. Based on the above being true, I thought the console has an indoor thermometer and humidity sensor. Since the Console does not transmit data, how does the data for these 2 sensors get read by the WLL?
the WLL has indoor temp and Hum and its own barometer sensor
So, the ones in the console are only used for the Console display? and the data can’t be used anywhere else.
Would it be possible to add a 6510 USB weatherlink to the console for the sole purpose of adding the temp and humidity sensors as extra sensors?
the WLL will pick up any actual extra temp/hum sensors
but did you mean the indoor temp/hum in the console?
yes. The WWL is not picking up data from the Console as far as I know because the Console has no way of sending it. I was thinking that I could add a 6510 to the console and maybe change it to Channel 2? That would give me a temp and humid sensor for, say my basement.
I don’t have that ability in WD …to use the usb data from the console for just selected sensors only at the same time as using the WLL device
OK. That will NOT be a problem. I was just thinking that IF you could, I would purchase a USB logger. For my purpose, I only need to monitor the temp/humid in the basement, and do not need to record the history or anything else. I can purchase a cheap standalone indoor/outdoor monitor and put the outdoor sensor in the basement.
THANKS for your reply!
there is a retransmit option on the wireless console, I found it on page 13 of my console user manual
The retransmit feature only sends data received from the ISS. It does not re-transmit the data from the internal Temp/humid/baro sensors.
