Dallas 1 wire and WS-2310 intergration

Hello All: I would like to intergrate an Dallas 1 wire anemometer with a WS-2310 weather station if the sampling rate is fast enough.( what is the sample rate?) Is it possible? The problem with WS-2310 is that it doesn’t sample the windspeed fast enough every 8 sec’s wired. Or has anyone ever found a way to increase the sampling rate for the WS-2310? My thinking is to disconnect the anemometer cable to the temperate and humidity sensor. Then install the 1 wire to a comm port or usb port; would Weather Display operate correctly? Also open to any other suggestions or idea’s.

hi
yes, this combo works, jaxweather has it in use, and you end up with every 1 to 2 seconds windspeed updates
you will need a spare serial port if using serial 1 wire or use a usb 1 wire adaptor and then set to use usb after selecting to use 1 wire as well and then set the port number to 1 in the use 1 wire as well
then set the rom id found for the 1 wire windspeed i button found in the 1 wire setup, click on save reset and in the com port setup, tick that our normal station has temperature/ humidity
but tick i want to use 1 wire speed (2310)

Hello,

I have an older 1-wire wind sensor which WD doesn’t support the direction but does support the wind speed for. I use the wind speed from the 1-wire and the direction from my La Crosse anemometer…

WD will also you to use the 1-wire as speed alone or both for speed and direction, but actually the direction from the La Crosse may be more accurate as it has more points…

In any event using a 1-wire wind instrument with a la Crosse makes a huge difference in accuracy

I use a 1-wire USB adaptor, and also have the 1-wire lightning detector and did have a 1-wire humidity sensor but that has failed and am currently using the La Crosse humidity sensor again…

JaxWeather, Have you found a good source for the 1-wire?

I was lucky (which is why it is older) and another member of this board had an old Dallas wind sensor laying around which they graciously sent me…

BUT for all 1-wire instruments I HIGHLY recommend Eric’s Hobby-Boards…

Is there any difference in performance between USB or Serial port for the 1 wire?

I really cannot speak to that as I have only used the USB adaptor which has never given me any issues…

Brian or Bob, I’ve received my AAG 1 wire Anemometer…are there any step by step step up insructions in the forum to intergrate with 2310? I’ve reread Brian’s post in this thread but I haven’t had any success in setting it up properly…any and all help would be Great. John

John,

You won’t be integrating it with the 2310, but with WD

First if you got the USB adaptor use the Lightning Detector beginning to get that installed:

Once it is installed then you would plug in your wind sensor to the adaptor and first go to your Davis 1-wire setup and press “Save/Reset” and see if WD sees the instrument.

Assuming it does then copy and paste the ROM into the “Wind Speed ROM” box and then press “save/Reset” again. Again assuming it is reading it properly then go to your Com Port setup and tick the appropriate boxes for using with the 2310 and you will have to close and restart WD after that step…

I am using a one one ver 3.0 with my 2310 and its works great.

Thanks Bob…I hadn’t set the USB to 1. Now to place the sensor outside…Found that it is better test on the ground inside first before the final install outside. John

That’s where I bought mine from also. {Hobby Boards} Going to get the lighting detector now.

Glad I could point you in the right direction

Absolutely
