I have recently changed my CWOP identifier from CW2667 to my Amateur Radio call sign…KB2COP. I believe I made all of the correct changes in the CWOP setup, but I can’t seem to upload the changes. I have been uploading under my call sign for three days now and findu shows no activity (except when I tested it under WeatherLink…uploaded o.k.). I have double-checked with Russ Chadwick who advises that everything on his end is setup for my call. Anywhere else I might be able to look/change parameters within Weather-Display?
have you ticked, i am not using a cwop call sign?
and what about entering a licensed ham code
( not sure if you need that or not)
i do know others have it working OK with their call sign, maybe they can help out
I thought the same that perhaps you may have forgotten to tick that box but apparently not. It sounds like it should work. Have you been uploading successfully before with CW2667 before you changed it to your call sign?
You should be able to use the default “Licensed ham aprs validation number” of -1. Your call sign should match what is in the CWOP database.
Did you try stop/exit/restart of WD? Any error messages in the ftp logfile?
Yes…I have had success for years with CW2667 and Weather-Display. I cannot find any error messages in the FTP log and yes again…I have stopped and exited the program twice. I even did a PC reboot to no avail. I’m sure this is going to be something simple, but it just isn’t occurring to me yet. As for the CWOP recognizing my amateur radio call sign, I have been running Weatherlink all evening and the data shows up when I do a search for KB2COP.
try a test
and then go to view, ftp log, view full log
and then it will show what is actualy being sent
and post that here
also check you dont have any trailing or leading spaces
the tick for it is ham call sign is just so that wd does not then worry about checking the cw number is formated correctly
but the -1 i thought that you would need to change to your licencse number, but i am no expert
The -1 is almost certainly irrelevant. It’s called the SSID (secondary station ID) and it allows you to transmit your callsign on up to 16 different frequencies at once (blank, plus 1-15 are allowed). With an Internet link it’s not relevant (assuming you’re not also transmitting APRS data via radio) and can quite easily be left as blank.
I think the -1 that was being referred to was the default value in the APRS validation box as opposed to the SSID. If you want your wx observation broadcast on RF from the APRS IS server you fill this in with a validation number. I used the number I got when I registered UIView but I think you can get one from Russ at CWOP(?). Before that I uploaded fine with the default of -1. In any case, John’s observation should still make it without the number although perhaps WD needs either a validation number or the default of -1 so maybe it cannot be empty? Good luck John, I hope you get it working. Follow Brian’s suggestions with regards to the ftp log, maybe it will provide a clue.
O.K. detectives…here is a paste of the FTP log. I hopeit contains enough relevent info. to solve this delema.
I am also a bit confused as to the “-1” that everyone is referring to. Where would I place that?

Note: I replaced my validation number with ***** for this copy/paste. Do you have KB2COP in the Station ID box and -1 in the Licensed Ham APRS Validation Number box? Good luck.
Alright…I am now going to put my stupidity on display for all to see !!!
I was placing my calll in the APRS validation field as opposed to the CWOP Staion ID field. All is well and I thank everyone for all of your help (now to try and find my way home after work!!!)
