Last year when the clock ticked over from December 31st 2008 to 1 january 2009 I lost all the data for december, I think I made a post about it then but can’t find it now, anyway how can I ensure the same doesn’t happen this time around?
I noticed that since the 21st December (shortest day) the day length isn’t changing. Daylength still says 7;54:00 difference from previous day 0:00, any suggestions?
If you check with USNO you’ll see that the change in sunrise to sunset time around the 21st is less than one minute a day. If you are looking at the WD hours of possible daylight then that reports the start and end of measurable solar radiation which is very low at this time of year (assuming N Hemisphere) and will be even less sensitive to day by day change.
hi
Thanks Niko for the explanation of the hours of daylight issue, in fact today it has now changed.
Cirrus, I have found the log file for dec 2008 but no data is showing on any of the “historic” pages eg Detailed climate report for that month is blank, or if I go to “view” then temp/wind/Rain chart and select 12 2008 again its empty. How can I restore the data for that month? Is it something like convert logfiles to data files?
On WD’s menu bar, go : Action---->Convert logfile(s) to data files (reset graphs), select the 122008lg.txt file and then click convert. In averages/extremes, you can then re-create the climatedataout.html file (Detailed climate report) by selecting 12 2008, and do the same for re-creating the web averages/extreme page (December2008.htm). It’s always a good idea to back-up your data and logfiles first, before doing this.
Thanks again
Now have the updated data on WD, will my web page be updated with the usual daily update just after midnight eg Station Daily Monthly report for December 2008?
Phil
You will need to upload your December2008.htm and climatedataout122008.html manually to your website, after you manually re-create those as I explained earlier. WD is not capable of updating/uploading past months automatically at this time.
