Cleaning contacts in RJ11 sockets

Does anyone have any ideas about how to clean any corrosion from an RJ11 socket? I have to move my solar cable to the ISS and found that the plug had a small amount of corrosion on one pin, this was cleaned easily with a small pin. However I think that there could be some corrosion on the socket and I am wondering the best way to clean same, bearing in mind that replacing the socket is not an option as this is a VP1 so parts are scarce. I have removed and re-plugged the cable several times but I’d like to be sure it is clean.

How about spraying it with some electronic contact cleaner? You can probably find it in an auto parts store. I’ve had good luck with it over the years and then apply a coating of dielectric grease which can also be found in an auto parts store. That will help prevent further corrosion. Good luck. I know well about trying to keep the VP1 going.

So far careful cleaning with Sevisol Super 10 switch cleaner & lubricant seems to have solved the problem - touch wood…
