Clean install

I have been troubled by numerous problems, and decided that a clean install was the best answer. I uninstalled, cleaned the registry with regedit, installed in a new directory and created the 2wd.txt file. It did not work for me. The old trend data is still there. FTP options did disappear. What is the function of 2wd.txt. Nothing was added to it. I am apparently doing something wrong… Please help!!! Tom

2wd.txt doesn’t need to have anything in it, it just has to exist.

Did you follow the FAQ instructions http://discourse.weather-watch.com/t/10889? I think you should set up the new directory, put 2wd.txt there, then install into that directory so when the program starts up it sees 2wd.txt and knows to start up as a clean install.

Another thought, if the old install is still there are you sure you are running the new one?

if done correctly,it will work
the most commen problem is you have a file called 2wd.txt.txt
i.e in the windows folder, untick, hide known file extensions, to see if that is the case

But doesn’t it default to start up at the end of the install, and if it does that before there’s 2wd.txt wouldn’t it look to the original files instead of creating new ones?

the insaller can be set to install to a new location…thats another key…
and you can untick to not start when finished to install…if you have not already createded the new directory beforehand with that 2wd.txt file in their, yes

Thanks to everyone for their comments. It worked and now I am reconfiguring… Thanks Tom

untick to not start when finished to install

We’ll add that step to the faq then.
