Check and see if your YoWindow is blank - If so, here's the fix

I noticed tonight that the YoWindow on my yrno page was totally blank - just a white space. I clicked around on some other folks’ website and everyone else I checked was having the same problem.

Did some digging and I found the problem. It appears that they changed the path to the Flash file.

In the yr_xml.php, I changed the two references of this:

http://repkasoft.com/wimo/hpPal/hpPal.swf

to this

http://swf.yowindow.com/wimo/hpPal/hpPal.swf

And that got it working again. In my file that was on line 78 and 79 but yours may be a few lines off from there depending on how many cities you configured.

Thanks Tony!
I’ve just fixed it here: http://www.meteocarmignano.it/wxysforecast.php

Hi
Thanks for the heads up on this. I couldn’t find the amended line in my copy of the yr_xml.php file but I did find them in my wxyrforcast.php file near the top of the file, changed them there and uploaded and all seems ok now http://www.weybourneweather.co.uk/wxyrforcast.php. Thanks again
Phil

Mine isn’t blank but it will no longer pull my current weather conditions. When first loaded it says “No Weather”.

Update:
I found out why: WD was not uploading the yowindow.xml file required. Funny, I don’t remember ever turning this off? #-o

Michael

I’ve the same issue today.
Any ideas?
Regards,

Alessandro

when I tested with your settings, yowindow was uploaded OK
note that this thread is 10 months old now…

Greeting!
Similar problem here a while back.
I was using I.E.,
but under a different browser, i.e. google chrome, everything worked fine.
Try that, see what happens.
Good Luck

  I know Brian but I prefer not to open two post for the same topic.
About the issue…yes, yowindow uploads correctly but i don’t see the weather data on my yowindow widget :frowning:
I’ve tried ie and ff browsers.
Regards,

Alessandro

so its uploading OK…
what is the URL to the file

yowindow file: http://www.meteocarmignano.it/yowindow.xml
…and my page: http://www.meteocarmignano.it/wxysforecast.php

if I scroll forward a day on your yowindow
I then see your data

Allesandro,

In your widget code I see www.meteocarmignano.it/yowindow-xml.php which doesn’t exist so change that to http://www.meteocarmignano.it/yowindow.xml and you should be ok.

  • Jim

Hi Jim,
I had already tried but without success!
I’ve just edited… but it always showing “No weather” :frowning: http://www.meteocarmignano.it/wxysforecast.php
That file exists (yowindow-xml.php) …i think it’s a bashewa’s version…i’ve attached it.
Regards,

Alessandro

yowindow-xml.php.txt (16.9 KB)

since scrolling forward showed the data
maybe its a time zone problem?

Hmhmh…it could be but there isn’t any time/zone setting in that page.

Scrolling forward is the forecast which is working, but Alessandro is missing the current weather.

Alessandro, why don’t you go back to yowindow.com and make a brand new widget? It will only take a few minutes. Review the instructions make sure you have placed the crossdomain file in your root folder.

I’ve just tried without success!
Maybe, i found the issue…at this moment my nearby metar doesn’t show any text (f.e. Clear, Partly cloudy ecc.).
I don’t know if it’s a metar problem or WD problem.
However, this problem may cause the “no weather” in LIVE weather condictions (the issue is only in LIVE mode) for this code:

$incCloudTag = false; // if true we decide else let Yowindow decide cloud
// formation from METAR or WD icon (overrides $incWDiconTag if true).

$incWDiconTag = true; // if true let Yowindow decide cloud formation from WD icon.
// (if this is required then $incCloudTag must be false).

What do you think about?
Regards,

Alessandro

Alessandro,

Thanks for trying the new installation, but I see it’s not working yet. Everything looks good to me and I see that you do have a crossdomain.xml file in your root folder. It is a different version than the one that they show on their site http://yowindow.com/widget_and_pws.php so maybe try that new one?

  • Jim

YEAH!!
Yes Jim,
i probably had an older version of crossdomain.xml.
I’ve just updated it and yowindow screen works ok now.

Thanks a lot for your support (and patience  ),

Alessandro

Alessandro,

Congratulations! I was sure hoping that would be it because otherwise I was out of ideas.
