Changing to relative barometer setting

I have just set up weather display. How do I change the barometer reading to relative setting.

Also do I have leave computer on all the time. When i reopened this morning I had to reinstall and setup again… What did I do wrong

what weather station type?
which version of WD?
if using W7 or Vista then make sure to set WeatherD.exe to run as administrator

I am using a WH1081 with windows 7 on a laptop

The problem is when i turn the laptop on each day all settings and readings are lost. I have to reinstall the software. I am not sure if it is safe to leave laptop on all the time.

Also where do I change the reading on the barometer to relative.

I love the program and actually bought a laptop running windows so I could use it…My main computer is a mac

make sure to set WeatherD.exe to run as administrator (right mouse click to set that)
you can set the barometer offset in WD under control panel, offsets and rainfall setup

Old topic but I cannot get the barometer to display other than at sea level.

I add 89.4mb or 2.64" to either barometer setting, with or without QFE checked or using the admin mode and setting offsets directly…no change I am always at 27.6xx inches more or less (Sea Level). My station is at 2,350 ft ASL but I cannot get WD to display anywhere close to 30.xx inches.

The barometer shows fine in the Tempest app and that matches closely to my other stations reporting of pressure.

This is the only thing holding me back from going from trial to buying WD.

In Control Panel > Offsets & Initial Rain you have to:

  1. Enter the offset
  2. Press “Set”
  3. Press “Yes” to save the settings

I am not sure, but you might have to restart WD for the setting to take effect.

Thanks for the quick response.

Yes I have done those steps both normal mode and in admin mode.

The values are shown in the fields as saved when I restart WD but it continues to show my entered value but still displaying the sea level barometric pressure in the main screens and dials. I find no affect by entering these values or leaving everything blank, the sea level is displayed.

I’m beginning to think the settings are stuck in the config somewhere as I recall when I first ran WD one day one I recall seeing the correct baro pressue in the far right screen (shown in the image).

As to using the QFE checkbox, it doesn’t make any change in the main screen. The only place I could found an altitude setting was in Sun/Lunar & Coordinates, I set that to 716 meters for my 2350 altitude. I don’t know if that is correct place for this value nor if this value is used by the QFE chckbox in the Barometer settings.

I am confused.

Sea level pressure, 89.4 mb/2.64 inHg higher than station pressure, is what you should see.

No, this is only used for Sun/Lunar calculations. And the other one, in Control Panel > Units & Other Settings > Precision tab, is only for cloud height.

Why is it WD’s job? Shouldn’t the WH1081 be providing the correct barometer reading?
