I am having a play with the Carter Lake template (with ajax)
Now, i aint really much of a html or php buff, far from it, but i have had a play
and i run a forum ( www.bashys-place.com ) of which i sorted all myself,
Now with this Carter lake template i am struggling, for some reason i cannot
get the data to show on the page, i know i have missed sommat easy but
cannot think what, What have i forgotten to enable? please http://www.bashys-place.com/weather/we/wxlocal.html please ignore the major typo
in the title pmsl…
wxlocal is the filename in the webfiles folder, and WD will read that file and convert it to wx.html. Look for this file in your web files folder. It should contain all the tags converted to values. Then using the advanced internet setup you can select when to ftp the file to your site and to rename it with the php extension while doing so…
Thanks for all your replies, sorry i forgot to enable to notification #-o
I will experiment a little then get back to you on this 1
Brian, I would like it to show in Metric, so the c is correct but the data is not,
Am i right in thinking i need to rename the file wxlocal-metric.html to wx.html ?
Can someone please show me there setup for the image below, i am assuming this is what your on about?
WD will rename if you have set it to do so in your Internet File Creation and Upload - File upload settings for that file.
You have wxlocal6.html for instance in your webfiles directory
WD will create wx6.html from that file.
In Internet file creation locate the wxlocal spin setting, select wx6.
Open that and set create times
then click on the upload settings and set upload times as well as the name you want the file to be uploaded as, including extension.
Seems to me that in the FAQs there are some screen shots of just that.
This is applicable to any custom files, not just Tom’s CarterLake templates.
To have the data read out in C versus F you need to use the appropriate tags.
It is so daunting, I really dont understand why i am struggling, I made my own Web Hosting site
and run my own forum of which entails template editing and so on, but this, is bugging
the life outta me lol
Why is it, some tags work and others dont, example here and here also, when i refresh the page the raw
tags show themselves. but on say yours Steve when i refresh the page they show the data as they should do
mine i have to wait for the azax to refresh before the data shows iteself
I might even knock the Carter Lake 1 on the head and create a non ajax site using the tags, but
again, thats where i get stumped,
To be honest i aint sure what to do yet, I might give carter another go in a bit and see what happens
1/ when the wxlocal.html is parsed by WD it comes out as wx.html in the webfile folders
2/ when you upload the wx,html to your pages change to wx.php ( or to test make a copy of wx.html rename to wx.php and put it in your web pages then try it )
3/ yes the tags are annoying guess some dont work in Linux but work in windies so weeding these out at the mo.
this should resolve your problems put a link here so we can have a look when you have changed the file name. Your old link ending in wxlocal.html is your problem.
I am using FF also and it works. Another thing about reload current page without clearing out previous URL’s, you could hold down the shift key while clicking on the reload current page. This helps me often when I make changes or assisting others with their pages.
Actually i have been using ctrl and refresh everytime
When i say its not working i mean not all the tags are working
I take it this is what you guys are seeing?
If thats the case this has been like this for days now lol, it was even like this with .html
Its the tags i need to sort out, sorry, i should have been more clear on the matter #-o
Also, i do not have anywhere in the custom file bit to change the name, see below, mine
aint like the image in the FAQ’s
In the settings for a wxlocal file you first set create times then you push the button that says “Show file upload times”
In that box there is a text area that says “Remote file name” at the very top that is where you would change say wx6.html to wx6.php or highslows.php, whatever you want the file named when it is placed on your web server…
Not sure as I haven’t followed the whole thread, I saw someone mention Linux. Are you running WD on Linux or Windows? If windows then the tags certainly should work unless they are entered incorrectly.
