Can't Adjust Rainfall

In the past whenever rainfall needed to be updated I did it via control panel/offset rain (see screen shot).

Not sure why my rainfall is off. Anyways, when I tried to adjust, nothing happens. Old values remain.

I tried it again and paid more attention

It DOES change it but immediately goes back immediatley

Then I remembered I had those “use vp console” settings.

I unchecked them and was allowed to change my rain values - which btw now match the VP console

Is this supposed to happen?

one more thing… after I changed WD to match the console, I re-checked the use davis VP rain rate - this changed the values to be incorrect (which prompted me to change in the first place)

Monthly rain on console says 3.57
Yearly 23.90

When looked earlier VP console showed:

Monthly: 3.60
Yearly: 23.98

Everything was ok. But once I checked the use VP rain rate it went back to 3.57 and 23.98

I guess I could re-check those and adjust the VP console itself

if you have set to use console rain totals
then you cant adjust the totals in WD
(obviously)
with the setting to use console rain total (which is separate to rain rate setting…you seem to be getting confused?)
then WD should be showing the same as what the console is showing
HOWEVER
since you use a WLL device, then it has its own rain totals, separate from the console, and its those totals that WD uses with the above setting

That all makes sense…

Curious why though when I check the box to use Davis VP rates and rainfall it doesn’t match the console.

I liked it when the rain rate was realistic. But somehow there was a discrepancy between what Davis console said vs. what WD was showing.

Some serious rain is upon us now for several hours. I won’t make any adjustments until after that stopped. Right now I have the check boxes unchecked

but its not from the console
its from the separate WLL device

Gotcha

“since you use a WLL device, then it has its own rain totals, separate from the console, and its those totals that WD uses with the above setting”
But WLL gets its data from the station which is the same way VP console does (wireless). So how is WLL’s rain rate data different? (just thinking outloud).

The reason you suggested checking those boxes in WD was to avoid rain rates of 18 and 36"/hour, which it did

Now the values don’t match. I can always modify the VP console to match.

Anyways… dont want to bother you any more on this. Appreciate your prompt replies as always
