Let’s hope they get it right first time, no shuttle to fix this one :frowning:

NASA delays launch again "The agency

More detail here, doesn’t sound good :frowning:

The project photos are outstanding! As far as the project schedule slipping, especially for a project of this size, there are going to unexpected issues along the way. It wouldn’t be the first time a large and complex project slipped behind by years due to unforeseen engineering hurdles that have to be over come before that can finish it. The sunshade seems to be the Achilles heel of the project. I wonder if the leaky valves occurred during the cryogenic vacuum testing phase? That would certainly put major stress on all components. However, we’ve sent a lot of “sophisticated stuff” into orbit and deep space over the years so I would have thought that any such valve issues would have been remedied long ago.

I also wonder how many “other” issues have come up that no one is publicly talking about? This spacecraft is quite complex so there a lots of potential areas to go awry.
