Build your own, or purchase lightning detector??

Hi, i’m From Michigan,USA and I wanted to know where i could find a good site to build my own lightning detector. I also am deciding if I should purchase a lightning detector or not (allready pre-assembled), If so, where can I purchase a good lightning detector from???

If you do a search of this forum you will find lots and lots of information on the different types available. Try that first and then come back with any more detailed questions you may have.

Do a search on “boltek” if you’re looking at the ready-to-go kind. www.boltek.com

Good job guys way to be on the ball . Anyhow, if you want a lightning detector that you want to use on your computer, then go with the 1-wire lightning detector (I think that’s what it’s called). If you’d like a lightning detector that is portable, but doesn’t work with computers, then you can try the SkyScan (I use the SkyScan). You can find more information about the SkyScan here: http://www.ambientweather.com/sklidede.html . Hope this bit of information helps.
