averaged wind direction

Hello

I wounder have I missed something through all the releases of WDL I have never been able to get the Red arrow to indicate average wind direction, the Red arrow has never moved Hmm.
I have checked meticulously but unable to find why.

has anyone any clues please

much appreciated

John

Which version of WD are you using?

Julian

Hi Julian

WD ver 10.20f

Cheers John

try 10.20i
as I have fixed a bug (should be) with the time information from the lightning strike (the problem arose if you had your windows time settings to show am or pm)

Hi Brian

Down loaded WD10.20i zipped file hope that was the one
running now
will monitor

cheers John

John,
This might not have anything to do with your current problem but in your index.html file there is some old code that should be updated to version wdlv3_03.swf
<EMBED src=“wdlv3_03.swf?http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/zl2tsweather/wdl/wdlconfig.xml” quality=high bgcolor=#FFFFFF

I have niticed something up with my average direction in my WDL setup. My red arrow dosen’t realy show the average wind direction. It shows the last direction, after the arrow has moved, then on the 3rd second of the last update it goes to what the new direction currently is. I dont believe that that is the average direction. I have seen the part on Brian’s site and his shows rather differently to mine. Is there something that I have missed in the setup of everything?

It’s probably the integration period that Brian is using for WDL. Brian - is it the same?

Julian

is that with a dallas 1 wire station?
that only has 16 directions…and so not as fine for average direction

yes this is the V3 1wire

Hello

wind has turned to the South
the averaged wind direction has not moved hmmm

Regards John

I dont know if this is much of an idea, but would it be possible if not better to calculate the average using the last 30min or last 60min values and deciding the direction of the wind that way. It would probably give a far more acurate readin, even once the wind chagnes it will still move around. probably the hardest gurdle would be when you get reading of 0 and 360 which will average out to 180 (south) instead of North which is where it should be pointing. But I suppose there is a way around it somehow.

john, can you check the reading in the clientraw.txt file?
and or at least post your clientraw.txt file here
thanks

HI Brian

Here it is link to clientraw.txt

http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/zl2tsweather/clientraw.txt[]()

Appreciate the help Brian

12.8 0 6:01:57 p.m. 7/11/2004 315

thats the problem

the p.m.

WD searches for pm but not p.m. (which must be the way you have your windows regional settings time format set up (unset to include pm or am and it will be fixed)
but I will search for a p.m. or a.m. too

Thanks Brian

I have made the adjustment
:reindeer:

Hi

After recent changes made, averaged wind direction
still remains stuck, no movement yet quite puzzling
still any further ideas please

cheers John

its still there in
from
http://home.xtra.co.nz/hosts/zl2tsweather/clientraw.txt

but in a new 10.20m zip, ready now, I now check for that p.m. or a.m.
try that new version

I have noticed that you have put a last 10 min average of the wind direction for WDL, is it possible to do the same for the main screen too. And possibly the text in the custom stuff and thigns that relate to that?

My wind direction vane has been broken for the last three weeks. Fixed it this weekend but now that it works again the average wind direction pointer stays at north eventhough winds are currently SW. I’m using WDL 3.06 and WD 10.21f. my clientraw file can be found at http://www.shermanctweather.com/clientraw.txt
Any ideas what could be wrong?
