APRS Com Error

All,

I am trying out the Weather Display Software and seem to be running into a problem. It may not be possible to do this… Anyway, I have the APRS com port set up to the proper port and baud. I am running this from a Davis Vantage Pro to an AEA PK-88. I am using UI-View as well. When I test the com port in WD, I get “Com Port APRS Error.” My first thought is that I can’t have WD send the file to the PK-88. So, I have set UI-View to fetch the WXNOW.TXT file. Is this file generated reliably even if the com port is not working? Is there a way to coordinate the broadcast of the file with UI-View?

Thanks so much for the help!

Hi ANdy,

I assume you are trying to use the comm port to the PK-88 with the weather display software, and the same port with UI-View32… Can’t be done…

One program only to the com port… Weather Display creates a file, wxnow.txt… You can tell WD where to send this file, or tell UI-View where it is when you set up the WX Station Setup in UI-View, which is the recommended way, and let ui-view do the sending to RF…
