I have a new WMR100 station, which I hope to eventually use to put data on a website. The unit appears to function correctly until I connect the usb cable for data transfer to PC.
Within 10-20 minutes of connection the rain and wind indicators on the control box change from figures to dashes (indicating loss of signal from sensors?). If I disconnect the cable, the figures return within 1 minute and the unit continues to operate correctly.
Following other threads on flatlining, I have tried replacing the batteries in all units (the supplied batteries should have been new, but one can never tell) - no improvement. I have tried powering down all units and resetting - again no improvement. I have brought the control-box to within 40 feet of the sensors (the nearest I can get staying indoors) - once again no improvement.
Make sure you are using a good quality USB cable with the ferris iron core at the end. You may need to spend some time finding a right location for both the sensors and the console where the signal strength is best.
There also a number of discussions on improving the antenna for the WMR100 under the station equipment section.
very many thanks for that pointer - one I’d missed.
Looks from that thread like there are a lot of problems with interference on the WMR100. I’m using the supplied usb cable which does have ferrite interference protection but, with only 10 metres between the console and the sensors and only a standard brick wall (timber framed house) in between, I feel there must be something more to it. The only way I can reduce the distance further is to put the console in the garage at 5 metres.
Looks like a call to my supplier or Oregon may be in order.
