And another......

How do you guys get the graphical representation uploaded? Is that a WD feature?

I get WD to ftp the plaintext.txt file up to my website, same can be done with the graphic. I use Ktrue’s php script to format the plaintext file for my website. Use the general FTP function of WD.

Are there any FAQs on that Stuart?

Not that I am aware of…

Shaggy,

For the graphic, I created a custom screen that uses latest.bmp as the background then added date/time tags. The result is a 26kb .gif that looks quite good. You can see the results here. http://jcweather.us/wxsim2.php?mitem=60

Jim,

Nice ! How to create latest.bmp ? Tick it in WXsim somewhere ?

tnx
ed

Ed,

If you run the retrieval module and select “view plots” you’ll see a small check box at the bottom to save bitmap. Select that and you’ll end up with a latest.bmp after each WxSim run. It’s a large file and needs processing in some manner before it’s suitable for the web.

Cheers for the info. I will take a look at that tonight. Just off to get my Network card for the new old pc

Jim,

Sorry I looked for it in WXsimate and WXsim but no view plots, (another version ?)
Do you have a screen shot from that part page ?

thanks so far

Ed,

Try this. Start WxSim then select File-Retrieve Data. This starts the retrieval module wret.exe which can also be started on it’s own. Then select any of the forecests that show up in the selection window. When you then hit the View Plots button you’ll see the graph and the tick box that I mentioned. As you’ll see, you have many options for what is displayed on the graphic.

This is a very useful tool and you can select an old forecast and compare it with what actually happened. There is also the option to combine forecasts for a longer term view.

Good Luck. - Jim

Got it

thnx !

By the way, there are actually two boxes that must be checked to get the latest.bmp to be created automatically from WXSIM. In the main module, on the output form, there’s a “Graphic” box that must be checked (right under the ‘Archive’ box). Then, as Jim said, you need to check ‘Save Bitmap’, which is at the bottom of the page where you view plots.

Hope that helps,

Tom

Wret.exe works best to schedule for customscreens etc.
(edit: does it work only graphicbox is ticked ‘on’ ?)

Both thnx for the good things working on.
