Forgot one. But I think the wind chill switches back to heat index above 65F. So I don’t want to move that. However, THWS incorporates both HI and WC, along w/ solar/hum. That’s the rationale for putting that one w/ humidex.
All keep all those in mind for any future update. In the mean time I have a totally new idea I’m going to be working on this winter… I think people will like it!
Scott
Here’s an idea. How about having the DP change to yellow when >60, then pink above 67. Rationale: we use high DPs as good indicator of severe wx development.
Or, have a “Storm Indices” section w/ the above Water Vapor/Baro w/ trend and Temp Rate Change (useful for approaching front/squall when <-5.5F (change to yellow)) combined.
hello all…
I recently added the Newest Alternate dashbopard to my site/homepage and must say scott did a very Nice job with this Newest version.
as for future versions …I think one thing that would be really cool would be to use the graphics in use on the “HI/LOW/AVG” Pages…for example the one for Rain, solar, baro, humidty…and then Incorporate them into a newer looking dashboard all togethr so that each, or at least most of the main imprtant things…has a grapghic for it…like the Wind and thermometer already have now. I dont think it would be possible to have graphics for baro, humidty, rainfall, solar that would be able to move and display data in near real time as the wind and thermometer do now, but just to have each graphic next to each measurement would still look pretty cool. it would only need the graphic first and then the “Current”, Maximum" and “Minimum” readings…not all the other readings that are currently with the hi/low/avg pages
if you take a look at the screenshot I threw together of some of them over laid into the dashboard…you’ll get the idea of what I am trying to explain. I just overlaid them quickly on a back drop picture of my exsiting dashboard, but if someone could come up with the correct code, layout and overall design to have all this squeezed into a New Generation Dashboard…That would be Pretty Awesome.
I am sure it wouldnt be easy, especially with the limited space for some, like me…using the narrow.css, but also wouldnt be impossible…or if it was made for the wide screen view only and looked really nice, I am sure some would switch from the narrow.css back to the wide screen view.
Just an Idea if someone wants to put it all together. I would try myself, but I dont know enough about writtng PHP/HTML Code to even attempt it…lol
The Alternate dashboard in use on my homepage can be seen by clicking on the link ibelow my avatar.

I love the Alt Dashboard.
I am strictly a cut and paste coder with little skill, but I have managed to stamp the alt dash with my own particular style and needs. 8)
I acknowledge the work done by the people involved in this script.
I of course have the issue each time it is upgraded that I have to code in my particular variations to the script, but I still find values in each upgrade.
I donate via pay-pal links on all the peoples pages that I extract useful code snippets from and encourage everyone else to do the same.
BTW If I am using something of yours and haven’t donated let me know, it will be forthcoming.
In operate my station on my own pocket book. I have no sponsors or adds so it is very much an as discretionary budgets allow.
My site well if you are intrested on the left the globe.
Reccomendation:
Add Soil Temp-good info for hard freeze.
I added a soil temp ajaxid and php to your alt dash. It displays just above the big temperature.
Add public option for THWS. If you have solar, put THWS in place of ‘feels like’ by the thermometer. Maybe add THWS footnote.
Scott, I seem to be having some issues with the rain area of your dashboard.
Do I need to set something in WD to get last 7 days rain to show? I put the tag in testtags
but that shows 0.00"
Also, the time of last rain isnt correct. I rained on the 26th and shows the 22nd as last rain.
Thanks!
Tony
Is there a way to discard .01" of rain in the script for days of rain? I don’t want to change this setting in WD, as .01 accompanies dew/frost and is measurable precip. I already changed the title from Rain/Snow to Precipitation.
I guess I could change the verbiage to x days w/ precip in Oct. But then a footnote would be nice stating, “Measurable precip of .01” is in this total; often a result of dew and frost."
Tony,
Looking at your site, I only see .01" of rain in the last 7 days. Do you have Ignore first tip of the day turned on? If so I think that is why it’s showing none.
Scott
I checked Scott and I dont have that checked. I’ve had .77" in the last week as of today also.
Yeah, there is a problem there with the tag but last time I looked at your Precip History there wasn’t as much rain listed as there is now. Did you manually change the rain totals? If so it might not add to the tags that are only set at midnight, that would be a question for Windy!
Scott
Hi Alessandro,
Yes that is a small problem with the Alt-Dashboard. It does the same on my site. It has been discussed in the past but no solutions where found. It is probably due to the fact that translated words take more space and the template adjusts by stretching a bit.
Thanks for your answer!
Best regards,
Alessandro
You could change the type size to try and get it smaller or abbreviate the words on the ones that are longer then the width allows.
Scott
Yeah Scott. My October data got hosed so I recreated it and all the precip data is there now.
I’ll see how it goes.
Thanks!
I have just installed this excellent script on my site, I seem to have everything working except the ‘sun’ area seems to be giving a strange reading, (as a time not a duration) what should it be reading and how do I make it happen?
Do you have windows set to show AM/PM? That’s normally the source of this problem.
Yes I do, should it be off?
I don’t think that area should be showing am/pm.
Yes, I think you will find that if you set windows to 24 hour, no AM/PM mode, that tag will work correctly and display just hours and minutes.
