Alarm clock?

Why does that little red alarm clock pop up in the tray next to the time instead of the temp? 8O

it does that when there is a warning threshold been met
i.e so you can know just by seeing that

you can turn that off under setup, weather warning setup, in the a recent beta version

oh and jim, have you figured out whats the causing the program grief at southpark>?

do you want my picture sent to you as a dart board?

No, it’s down and I can’t get to it. As for the picture, I’ve already got it but my wife won’t let me throw darts in the house.

i see its an older vrsin 9.92
but it still has trouble…
i wonder what is happening

memory on the pc having trouble?
any number of things…
its hard to tell from this distance

sorry its not working
1000 apologies

Brain,

I pulled the Southparkwx computer and brought it home to “study” the problem.

Conclusion: The machine is shutting down at 40 degrees F with what appears to be a temperature sensitive memory board, which one I don’t know, but I have a suspect. I don’t heat the house in the winter since we’re not there and have never had a problem until I bought this new one. It has been running WD w/o FTP’ing and the cam for 48 hrs and no hiccup, in our heated house. I have the coniferwx weather station plugged in to it also. When I pulled it, the machine would not even boot until I warmed it above 40 degrees F.

No the issue is what to do about it?? I’m am leaning against starting to swap memory boards since it have to work in the cold but may heat a cabinet for it instead. Finding a heater small enough is a problem. I am looking a camera housing heaters at the moment.

Do you want my picture now to throw darts at it?? If you had one, you probably would anyway! I had this problem in the USN 25 years ago and thought these “young” chip designers would have figured it out by now. There is no reason why a chip should stop functioning at 40 degrees in the 21st century but try explain that to Dell (esp. customer service people in India!).

1001 apologies!

My suggestion would be to fix the memory problem. There’s something wrong with it and it’s likely to fail in some other way sooner or later, heated or not.

hey, amazing,
(i actualy thought it might be cold relatet, as it was OK during summer)
good you have it found the problem
now to find a good solution

Right now I am 50/50 on whether to heat or look further. The problem is (1) where the site is, (2) I don’t know that it is a memory problem, that was one of the suggestions on the error message, (3) the cold is not good for the rest of the machine anyway, even if it does work, (4) the difficulty in finding the right board means a couple more 2.5 hr trips up the hill, etc. I suspect one because it was a Sam’s Club board and the first one was DOA.

If I were smart, I’d do both, but then… In any event I can’t get back there until after Christmas anyway.
