A little help on MQTT and home assistant

I am new at this MQTT stuff. I am trying to get my home assistant setup with my davis weather station and the only way I can fig it out is with MQTT.

I have a local mqtt server running and my weather display does have a connection to it. and on the home assistant side I do have MQTT running. But I don’t have a clue what would be next. any help would be greatfull

Go to the Home assistant forum and search for mqtt and weather display. I made the first entry and it should give you a place to start.

I maintain an MQTT page and I might be able to help. I am not familiar with Home Assistant however, so if that is the issue I will be of no use. My page is simply using WD and cronmqtt to generate the details and the broker displays them.

You can (hopefully) see my page at: MQTT Environment Dashboard

I also followed the forum edhall mentioned and it worked out great. WD will push the values to HA and it’s rock solid. Let me know if you need any help. I only push a few values into HA for automations but the skies the limit. Wind gusts to pull in awnings, battery low on console, pool temp from extra sensor etc

Sorry for the long delay in saying anything. I had some health problems and had to get them fixed. Anyway

I did get my station talking nice with my home assistant. But now if I try putting any of the sensors that are updating in HA in any kind of automation I get this error “This entity (‘sensor.temperature’) does not have a unique ID” I thought the name “temperature” would be a unique ID? or did I mess a setup up someplace? Thanks for the help from all of you

Did you get this straightened out? Sorry just saw this

sorry to say but no I did not. walked away from it for now.
