24 hour graphs

When you click on the graphs button at the bottom of wd live, sometimes I have the option of viewing 24 hour graphs, and sometimes I don’t. If I shut down and restart wd, the option appears for a while, then after about five minutes it goes. I am guessing it maybe something to do with the clientrawextra.txt file not uploading properly. Where do you set the upload options for this file?

Further to my last post, all the wd live sites I have visited do the same thing after five minutes. Could this be a setting on my pc’s stopping the clientrawextra.txt file updating, or is it more sinister?

What happens is that the 24 hour graphs only appear once the Records (clientrawextra) file has loaded. If you click graph as soon as WDL opens you’ll not see them because the Records haven’t loaded - when they do those options appear. What should happen next is that the Records refresh themselves after approx 15 minutes. If that refresh fails then the 24 hour graphs will be missing. Have you noticed if the records are missing when the graphs disappear?

Julian

I have 3 pc’s running, each looking at a different wd live website. (wd2.03 versions)

After 10 minutes of viewing the site, when you try to change a graph option, the 24 hour options are no longer there. The live data continues to work, and the live and last hour graphs work.

After 15 minutes, live data still keeps updating, and all works ok, with the exception of the 24 hour graph options.

Click on refresh in IE does not bring the 24 hour options back.

Close IE, and revisit the site, all works ok with the exception of no 24 hour graphs.

Reboot PC, revisit site, still no 24 hour options.

All PC’s running XP Pro sp2.

It seems like the clientrawextra.txt file expires after ten minutes, and the freshly uploaded file is not read by WDL.

But are the records there or do they disappear and if so at which point?

Julian

The 24 hour records stay there, but do not change. Knowing there is a fresh file uploaded every 10? minutes, I thought the graphs would change. When you close the graphs, and then re-open using the bottom button, the graph options for 24hours have then gone.

I’ve just been trying to reproduce this and so far have failed. I’ve had your site, mine and Brian’s running for the last 30 minutes and everything is updating correctly including the 24 hour graphs. Every 10 minutes I get a new time shown.

The thing which makes me suspicious is -

Click on refresh in IE does not bring the 24 hour options back. Close IE, and revisit the site, all works ok with the exception of no 24 hour graphs. Reboot PC, revisit site, still no 24 hour options.
- which makes me think it's some strange caching problem but the method of loading the new clientrawextra files is exactly the same as for loading the clientraw files. If there was a problem with the records I would expect it to occur for the ordinary data as well...

Anyone else seen this?

Julian

I’ve just tried it on my laptop and the kids PC, and it still does the same thing my end. Must be an SP2 security issue?

Not sure, I’m running SP2. Is there anything common with your network, ie router, proxy server?

Julian

i sent you a email IWW the other day about this, to get you to set the URL tot he clientraw.txt and clientrawextra.txt files in your XML settings file…that might help

edit:
i see you have done that now…hummm

edit:
i can get them to load everytime IWW by first clicking on Records
and then click on the graph, and the 24 hour graphs are there!

Maybe although you shouldn’t need to do that and as IWW says it affects all the WDL sites he views. I think it must be a local configuration thing.

Julian

i can get them to load everytime IWW by first clicking on Records
and then click on the graph, and the 24 hour graphs are there!

that must be a clue

can get them to load everytime IWW by first clicking on Records and then click on the graph, and the 24 hour graphs are there!
Brian, what happens if you leave IWW's site running for more than 10 minutes - do the 24 hour graphs still work for you?

Julian

I have changed the security settings to low, and it works fine. Perhaps I was being impatient waiting for the 24 hour graphs to update.
It does still create this problem if you hit refresh in your browser, or the page has a meta refresh enabled.

thanks for the email Windy. The graphs were working at my end without anything in the config file, but I did update it just in case.

so its all good now?
i left the window open for 30 minutes, and i could still view the graphs, after clicking on graphs…

great feature, the 24 hour graphs, ah!
(what other software can provide that!)

It just keeps getting better. We have had a few power failures this last month, but wd has had no problems downloading the data from the logger, so all your work battling to beat the logger finally paid off

All I need to work out now is how to add my three extra temperature probes, a moisture probe and leaf wetness sensor!!!

Oh yes, and my nexstorm software wont run on the same pc as my WD!!

Not quite sure though why you should have to lower security to low. I’ll investigate that more.
