Sorry I am a new to using Weather Display and I am failing at the first hurdle.
I have a 1-wire wind gauge from Hobby Boards and a DS9490R USB interface and trying to use the Windows version of weather display on Windows XP pro.
I have installed the maxim 1-wire drivers and the OneWireViewer can see that the wind gauge is connected, and I can see the temperature on the interal sensor.
When I go to weather display and run the initial setup it asks me for the COM port that I am attached to, I have tried all the COM ports none seem to work!
I have found information that states the USB device should be allocated a COM port and this can be found under CONTROL PANEL/ SYSTEM/DEVICE MANAGER/ PORTS (Com and LPT), but when i go to DEVICE MANAGER I do not have a PORTS tab!
files in the /wdisplay folder and also the WINDOWS/system32. I can not find the above .dll files in the /wdisplay folder.
Please can someone help tell me what I am doing wrong, its probable something simple I have missed, but because I am new to this program I do not know what.
If you only have the anemometer as your weather station, have you set the station type to “Dallas/AAG 1-Wire Version 3” in Control Panel > Station Type & Settings > Dallas/AAG 1-Wire?
In the Maxim download there should be an automatic COM port detection program called “Default 1-Wire Net (32 bit)” or something like that. If you run this then it should tell you which port the USB adaptor is connected too.
If you don’t see the .dll files in the wdisplay folder then don’t worry about that part.
In Control Panel > COM Port Setup > Comport Number put the COM Port munber in here. Don’t put anything in the tag marked “Dallas 1-Wire / with station settings” - this is only used if you have another weather station running with the 1-Wire system.
DS2450 1-wire Quad A/D (I think this does win d Direction)
DS1920 Digital thermometer
DS1990A 64bit serial number (which I think is the thing in the USB adapter)
DS2423 1-wire counter (I think this does wind speed)
Thank for your help in resolving this.
PS - tried to add a screen grab from 1-wire viewer but I can not work out how to add it.
To post a screen grab: on the reply screen you’ll see a link called “Additonal Options…”, click that and it will allow you to upload files from the Browse button.
Can you upload the following screens:
COM Port Setup
Dallas 1-Wire / with station settings
Station Settings
Dallas 1 Wire > Main/Save setup
Then we’ll check you detting in those & make sure they’re correct.
While you’re in the Dallas 1 Wire page, just click on the Hub tab and make sure there’s nothing in the tick box to use a hub.
OneWireViewer showing that it is working. (1wireviewer.gif)
Com Port Setup>Dallas 1 wire / with station settings (Comportsetup.gif) I have not added anything to this screen as I do not think I am supposed to use this one with a weather station.
Dallas 1 Wire>Main/setup (Dallas 1 wire_Main_save setup.GIF) I have tried adding the ROM IDs from the OneWireViewer but this did not help.
in the 1 wire setup in wd, you need to have ticked the needed adaptor type
i.e USB for you
and then set the com port number to 1 there or at least to 1 in the com port number setup
are you using the 1 wire with a weather station, or?
