As maybe seen in the WD Main question, I have a problem with the humidity sensor allocation. When I set it as MAIN it doesn nothing, yet when I set it as hum id #2 it works fine, but I cannot seem to allocate the #2 sensor to the main page.
I have also noticed that the rain counter is no longer being allocated unlike all the other sensors…
Any help really aprpeciated. Hopefully see attached pics below.
Argh - itsraining and no increase in mrainfall in WD, so…
How did I add in the hum/temp detector? I just daisy chained it on to the end of the rainfall, then anonomeeter…
Grrr.
Are you 100% sure the 1-wire bus is OK? Very odd things happen when the bus has a fault on it. I just suffered a failure where the wind direction device could not be found/allocated, the fault was down to a capacitor on the lightning sensor dragging the bus… since I have replaced it, all is fine again.
Aye - it was a reboot that was needed.
However as it has been pointed out apparently im running the 1-wire incorrectly - so i am now trying to set it up correctly, and teh com port 1 used just doesnt register anythiong.
anyone any sugegstuionas as to what com port settings i shpuld use, and how i can testhwich com port - i used the 1-wire viewer and taht told me USB1, but is that the same as COM1?
cool thanks
what about the rest of the comport setup? do you have anything under Dallas 1-wire / with station settings or is that all blank and unticked?
do you have anything under Dallas 1-wire / with station settings or is that all blank and unticked?
if you only have a 1 wire weather station then nothing should be set up there
(and then restart wd)
(also make sure you have set the pole type in the weather station type setup, 1 wire setup)
and also make sure you have ticked to use USB type in the com port setup and have the co mport number set as 1
That setup should do it.
I had problems getting my AAG anemometer working with the 1-wire lightning detector and it turned out to be the way the RJ11 & RJ45 connections were wire.
With the AAG anemometer you need four wires connecting in parallel (straight through). One of my connectors was wired with a switch over (cable colours reversed on one end) and this was causing the signals from the AAG to go direct to ground when the lightning detector was in the system and no signals were getting to WD. If I connected either on thier own then they showed up and worked fine but together I got nothing.
ah but if that WERE the case hioe come when i set come 1 up and AAG stuf WITH, as in earlier pic - everything works, except humidity on #1, it works on #2… but you cant channel #2 to the main screen.
**Just to confirm - went to comm ports - chance the extra sensors/AAG station thingy - ie put the ticks back (left the spinner at the top as 0) and immediately got all my feeds back and numbers etc… apart from humidity - wghich is still at 67% but as humidity#2 its 84%
that wont work if you set to use 1 wire as well as with a station
please note that it does work if set correctly with a 1 wire only station and no settings in the use 1 wire as well
and so dont keep going back to using 1 wire as well, there is no point in doing that, as you should not be using those settings if you only have a 1 wire weather station
(but you would need to make sure the 1 wire weather station type is selected in the weather station type setup and you have the type of windspeed pole selected)
Sorry, Brian’s right, I didn’t see the top grayed out box ticked in your com port setup.
You need to untick the “I want to use a 1-wire device for my weather station”.
Select a com port, other than zero, in the box above and the top two settings should become highlighted.
Untick the top box and reselect com port zero again, then click OK.
If the box doesn’t become highlighted then, with com port 1 selected, click OK and go back into the screen again.
IIRC you may have to re-start WD after doing this if the alteration doesn’t stick the first time.
(I really appreciate this help)
Tried that - going in / out / restarting… ALWAYS greyed out no matter what i do.
Is there an INI file i can modify somewhere?
to be able to untick the settings you need to set the com port to use other than 0
then untick all those settings
then set the com port to use back to 0
(as explained in one of my posts)
then restart wd
The only other thing I can think of to get it un-grayed is to select a different station in “Station Type & Settings”. Just in case it’s remaining grayed out because you have Dallas/1-Wire selected as the station type. If that works then untick the box, click OK and then put the station settings back to Dallas/1-wire.
Is that likely to work Brian as I think he’s tried changing the com port number but it didn’t un-gray that setting?
