Hi folks, I’ll try to explain this problem the best I can. I’m using WD10.16i with the LaCrosse WS2510 weather station running Win XP home edition. There are a couple problems one of which it seems the data retrieval process gets stuck. When it is time for the 15min retrieval this is what I get on the LaCross data report screen…
get data click
Ws2500 timer on
Ackl, stopping timer
getting data
Ackl, stopping timer
Retrying
This keeps cycling over and over. I can hit the ‘get data’ button on the top of that screen a few times and it’ll retrieve a few ‘data sets’. It doesn’t happen all the time tho. Which brings me to the next problem. It has to do with using the solar data to update the weather icon. Once I hit the ‘get data’ button…the icon will change to the proper one…ie sunny, mostly cloudy…etc. But…after the next minute on the clock passes…it will always revert back to the partly cloudy or mainly fine icon. On the summary screen…the text part of the current weather always shows correctly when using the solar data to update icon/current weather…but the icon will not stay ‘put’. It’s happened with the previous couple versions as well. Any help would be appreciated. Everything else seems to work wonderfully. I did notice that when I had the option to graph the solar data…it had breaks in the graph…don’t know if that’s related or not. Thanks for any help in advance
Brian, I’ve already emailed you before I became a member of the forum so I know you are aware of it and you also posted a new ‘fix’ for it but it didn’t work I’m thinking. Thanks for all your help
hi
i have been doing more work on the icon problem
please try the latest beta version
thanks
I have installed the latest version…10.16k and still have the same problem with the icon. Also WD has a really hard time waking up the station for the 15 min data retrieval. It went all night last night and never woke it up. I had to do a manual ‘get data’ to catch it up.
Using LaCrosse WS2510
someone else reports the same problem with the wake up…ohh, its so touchy…i am not sure what i changed…its probably not much… i will have to do more testing…but again i am not at home today…
I’m in no hurry at all. Just whenever you get around to it. I’ve pretty much decided to purchase the software. I have a couple more weeks on the trial with which to play around with it. Based on the tremendous response times with my questions and problems and from reading a lot of the other posts here, that alone is worth it’s weight in gold.
This might not be the right place to post this but I just thought about it as I was thinking of bugs. I’m sure you’ve thought about it…:?: but have you thought about making a separate version for each brand of weather station? Or would that be much more work for you. Forgive my ignorance, but was just wondering if a version for each brand of weather station would introduce less bugs.Just curious…and a thought
too much work, LOL
i have shifted the get data routine to be the last thing done each minute, that should help…with the timing of it…(you see, otherwise the station goes back to sleep)
for the next beta version
