Hi Brian,
this is Steve from Switzerland again with another question: I’ve got the cable to connect WS2500 console to the PC instead of ELV datalogger WS2500PC to finally collect data also of indoor temperature/humidity and pressure.
Bad surprise! PC cannot get data from the console! Tried with Weather Display and other credited software, compatible for working with this console: none of them works!! All of the programs say “cannot get data from interface” or similar messages…
Some posts ago I read of someone having the same problems, but no resolutive answer was given to that guy. Problems seem to be in the console, have you got to know anything about this issue?
Second minor bug is the one concerning the time of maximum rain rate (in the middle left section of the main screen) which doesn’t report the time of maximum rain rate, but the rain rate itself.
Third minor bug is the following: since the ELV datalogger WS2500PC cannot get the local pressure, I wanted to use that resulting from the metar to put in the main screen. So I checked the box “use the barometer value from the metar for my stations barometer (use only this data)” in the lower section of the “FTP/metar download” in the page “FTP internet setup” in the control panel. After a short while I could see the pressure on the main screen, but also temperature and humidity were those of the metar!! Was there something wrong in what I did, or should only the pressure of the metar have been represented in this case?
hi
are you using the correct cable to connect to the w2500?
as its a special cable…not just an odernary serial cable
and its different to the ws2310 cable too
the ws2500 console should come with a cable…if it did,.,.then maybe though the retailer gave you the wrong cable…thats possible…
re barometer from metar…it should just pick up that, if you did not tick to use humidity, etc.

I got the cable directly from the company ELV, since it was not included in the original delivery. Before confirming the order I contacted ELV customer service and they told me this is the specific cable for WS2500.
I don’t think it’s a problem of cable, since WD, when contacting the weather station, shows the “data received” LED green and blinking. It’s the “data quality” LED not changing from still red, and setup window shows only “getting data / timer on” - “getting data / timer on”…

I checked the barometer’s check-box only, nevertheless I find temperature and humidity too updated with metar value.
What can you tell me about the maximum rain rate time?
action is a menu item along the top of weather display
click on that
then see the item, back up registry entry
then click on that
then email me the file, wdisplayftp.reg, which you will find in the folder databackup, which is a subfolder of where you have weather display installed
Brian, I’ve just sent to you the backup registry entry resulting after setting the program to retrieve ONLY baro value from metar.
I confirm once again that, after having checked the box for retrieving baro value (ONLY this), also temperature and humidity are affected, 'cos they also are updated with metar values.
