WS-2310 Importing History.DAT

I have been using heavyweather for 8 months or so and have been storing the data in my history.dat file. Is there any way I can import this data into Weather Display? I’d like to keep the history I have already compiled.

Thanks!
Matt Slaga

its possible
i have worked out the data structure of the 3600 history.dat file, so I should be able to for this one
zip and email me the data file and I will see what i can do

Hi Windy

I am currently evaluating Weather Display.

I have a WS2310 as well, and is struggeling with the issue of importing data from it.

On the other hand, my PC seldom runs at nights, so I would also be able to retrieve the data from the Weather Station when I switch on in the morning. I haven

well, WD works best with a data logger that holds 1 minute data, and does that all night long, if you can not run WD overnight (best if you can), but the 175 data records only gives 175 minutes with a ws2310, so thats not much use at all (and in fact, I can only find 12 5 data records in the memory addresses).
the routine to get the data history from the ws2310 is not a easy routine:its one of the most challenging weather stations on the market …it would great if you could just request data from between this time and that time and the station sends that data, but it does not work that way
anyway, you can get a nights worth of data if you set the data logging interval to say 30 minutes, and set the pad out in WD to 30 minutees, in the data logger setup, and then turn the switch ON on that setup screen, and then also make sure the weather station time and date matches the pc’s time and date
but, in reality, if you cant leave the pc on and wd running overnight (which I recommend is the best thing for a PC, being left on), then dont use weather display and a 2310 type station (but instead use a davis VP)

Windy,

Is it not possible to import an CSV file, like the one in the LOG that Weather Display produce it self.

By converting the log from WS2310 into the same format, it should then be possible to maintain the historic data, even when the computer is shut down.

:?

there is an option in the data logger setup to import the exported text based logfile that heavy weather can export…and that works OK
but if i managed to instead read in the history.dat binary file instead, it would be much faster
if you could zip and email me that file, then i will try and see what I can do, as time permits

why can you not leave the pc running overnight?
175 data records is not much and is far from ideal , as it means lots of missed data
thats just my opnion anyway

Hi,

Running the PC overnight, uses elektricity, and we pay dearly for this in the taxhell of Denmark, but I am actually looking into doing this, as I can turn off all Perifericals, and then properly not use too much.

I will forward you my latest DAT file.

Cheers

Per

computers do not use all that much power
no more than leaving a 100w light bulb on I would have thought

I left my computer on this night, and during a measurement tool.

The consumption varioes between 140 to 200 watts.

I have a monster computer with the latest “state of art” equipment, so that is the reason.

But anyhow until I find a solution, I will keep it on.

Cheers,

Per
