I am starting to get an awful lot of blips in my graphs ever since version 10.18e and above? has somethng gone wrong with the checking for extreme value changes? Its throwing all the graphs and makeing maximums of 45*c plus and minimums that are below zero. Its starting to get annoying having to re do the log files every couple of hours to get rid of the blips. Is this a known issue still?
I have a WS-2010 and the same problem. Check out my graphs.

Help!!
data blips like this seem to happen with the la crosse data loggers
(although i have just downloaded 3 days of stored data in the ws2500 PC data logger I have, and no data blips)
so, a solution might simply be to put in a lower and upper temperature reading that WD will ignore, that you can set …
good idea?
the tempratures that its going to are within the normal range of the climate here. its getting up as high as 45*c which happenes in Adelaide during the summer…
Is it possible to have some kind of checking the data to see if its just too far out of the ordainary say even a small amount of 5*c, or even make that changable by the user?
Cheers NAt
I have the same problem as Tucker. My spikes are, for the most part, within normal winter tempetures. Thinking it might be a memory thing, I moved WD back to my main computer running Win XP and the spikes on my graphs are gone. Unfortunately, I’m still getting crazy numbers on my daily highs and lows. When I go to the log file viewer and check these number at the time recorded on the weather data chart, they aren’t there. Is this a WD issue or a Lacrosse logger issue?
Thanks,
Fred
Is it possible to have some kind of checking the data to see if its just too far out of the ordainary say even a small amount of 5*c, or even make that changable by the user?i used to do that but that just created more problems, like if that data blip lasted more than 1 reading....then i put in time outs....it became a nightmare but since then i have a CRC error data check in use....but still the data blips are coming through....but not for everyone.,....so , i think its a loss of signal (hardware) issue
is there any way around it? cuz its just getting rather frustrating?
I keep getting this error if it helps:
ERROR: List index out of bounds (0) at time/date 1:31:03 PM 7/11/2004 ERROR: List index out of bounds (0) at time/date 1:53:17 PM 7/11/2004
When this happens, WD chrashes too. I don’t know if the problems are related.
try this version:
http://www.tokaanuskihire.co.nz/WeatherD.zip
to see if it fixes that error…(but its hard to know exactly where that error is occuring (but try the latest beta, as it has special crash report data (eureka log)
fix for the data blips:
have you considered a signal repeater for the la crosse station, as others have reported that fixes what you are seeing
with this data blip check, and you say, those values to set are within normal ranges for your location
what i could do is have the data range check threshold being , say, 10oC above or below what the previous , say, 1 hour average readings were
that might work

Thats what I was trying to get at when I waid that… Making it changable, because its not all that oftern that temps move all that fast. you qould possibly have to check it for each time, because i have noticed in the logs that sometime there are 4-5 times the errors appear in the logs.
A similar thing would have to happen to the other readings as well, ie humidity, wind speed and barometer, because they all cause the same type of error, generally at the same time, but not allways.

I have the same problem as Tucker.
My bad. The wx file in webfiles was quoting old data. I used to have it set up so the fields were %mintemp% rather than a number for minimum temp. I can’t remember how I set that up. I’m sure I’ll figure it out soon enough but if someone knows the answer let me know.
Thanks
I have noticed a pattern. Its normally one for about 3 results. 53.4 , 0.3 and -43.something. The first two are the most common. I don’t know if thats any help in trouble shooting the problem. I would have thought if its a hardware problem, it would have different values each time. But since its not it seems to lean more towards software.
I moved WD on Nov. 5th and haven’t had any blips since, until last night. It was a big blip but only for 4 minutes so I think I will try and put in the upper and lower reading you suggested. Where do I do this in WD? When you downloaded 3 days of data did your graph times get messed up?
Thanks,
Fred
hi
i have done some testing, and, i thought the crc error checking was working
its not
so that does not help
at this stage, i cant get that to work…yet
GOOD NEWS!!
I have got the CRC error checking working now!!!
this will help ALOT!
for ws2010 and ws2500 users!
uploading 10.19o now
also, i have started woking on gettting the time stamp from the data extraction at start up working correct too
So far so goo, I have been running WD 10.12o for around 18hrs now and so far there have been zero blips in the data. If I do see something, You all will be the frist to know. Cheers Brian
this is good news
your 72 hour graph shows no data blips
I have had no problems at all since the new update, apart from weather underground not updating, which is in a seperate thread.
