I’m not aware that there is a WD log that tells you.
I use Process Explorer, ~Windows Task Manager++, and just click the wmr100.exe process and the start time is right there.
It seems to restart 2- or 4-hourly(?). Today I only know for sure that it restarted just after 12:00, 16:00 and 18:00, which is the current process (now 21:45).
Just re-read the thread and here are some thoughts, and things you could try:
Lots of people use WD with the WMR200 so I doubt it’s anything fundamental with the wmr100.exe gatherer (the WMR200 part of it), ie I was simply saying that the restarting is normal, done to help stability I believe. It may/may not be related to your data dropping out. As you say, if you can correlate it with the restarts then that would help, eg rule out a faultly WMR200 console. But you said it had happened at other times too, so a dodgy console / USB link remains an option.
It was working fine with WMR100, now gone flaky with WMR200 - what happens if you revert to WMR100 console, does it run ok? Even if it does, that doesn’t remove the possibility it’s the USB link that’s the problem as the consoles are different.
One thing that’s unusual about your set-up is that you’ve changed from WMR100 to WMR200. So perhaps, despite changing the station type, as they’re v similar stations there’s still some internal setting that’s telling wmr100.exe it’s talking to a WMR100, eg only when it restarts (I’m guessing here of course). To eliminate the wmr100->200 change being the cause, you could try a completely fresh install, set up for the WMR200, ie no trace of WMR100.
If it’s still flakey then, I’d be looking even more closely at the USB link & console (change lead, re-route, check firm connection in the WMR200, relocate the entire thing and starting to wonder if it’s the console - can you borrow a different one to try?). There have been plenty of reports of people with odd USB glitches etc and even interference from wireless routers.
You know - people get a bad wrap for “Following Sheep” - but the glowing one ROCKS. If this was a place you could give points for right answers - you would get all I had to give!
I don’t want to jinx myself - but after going out and buying a new USB cable and re-routing it - and moving it from the USB hub on the monitor to the motherboard proper… I’m over 48 hours without it losing the connection… :o Thanks for everyone else reading and thinking about this too!
wmr100.exe has restarted multiple times - as expected - and all is still fine.
So - for future people who will search for an answer here in the forums - here’s the search string:
Console intermittently loses connection between Weather Display (wmr100.exe) and WMR200 base station. Must unplug USB connection and restart Weather Display software to reconnect to base station.
The fix: Make sure USB cable is plugged into motherboard - not USB hub - and ensure cable is routed away from EM sources.
That’s good news - sounds like you’ve got it sorted!
PS Followed the link to your blog and I enjoyed reading your email to OS about the problems getting a replacement for your defunct WMR100. Getting a reply from the OS president made me smile - things certainly moved after that, lol! That contact might come in handy if Brian has more problems with the WMR200 data logger!!
Hi, I’m using version 10.37j build10 in combination with a wmr 200. I see some strange values appearing sometimes in the data received from the datalogger.
Check the temperature (and dewpoint) after hour 07:01) . Any ideas what is going wrong?
Yes you can… Only click on the + Symbol left bottom on the Text block you typing in.
Then you will see the Attach… consider the limits with the extensions (txt, doc, etc.)
and the filesize…
Sorry, I usually mention how to do that first time, but forgot…
Thank you.
I’m not sure how many sensors you have, but up to 6:51 you seems to have the usual sensors plus an extra temp/hum?
After that point in wmr200history.txt some extra ‘channels’ start appearing and the outdoor temp disappears for a while.
When outdoor temp reappears at 07:02 it has a much lower temp of 0.4, then disappears again (so 0.4 will get used till it reappears)
Extra temp/hum 1 which had also disappeared, reappars at 07:05, again with a temp of 0.4.
Extra temp/hum 1 then recovers to a higher temp, but outdoor doesn’t come back till 07:19 at which point it has a presumably quite reasonable temp of 10.2
Beyond that things settle a bit, but there are still a lot of fairly random looking ‘channel numbers’.
I think you may benefit from resetting the console, as that may help the console get it’s bearings again!
