I am having unexplained problems with the WD program just hanging up and very slow response. It seems to be much worse since I have upgraded to SP2. I am running Windows XP Pro. In the past the earlier version of WD ran with very little problem. I am going to try to fine older version of WD and see if it will run on my system without the hangup problems.
Am I the only person the is having this problem ??
I’m using & used versions 10.12t 10.18c 10.18d and now 10.18f on both winXP SP1 and since 2 weeks SP2
I registred no errors/slowdown at all
BUT, check this:
some newer models have infineon technology on board (control chip for hacking in your system);
by wich you can set to control your serial port for example …
Check first your bios
Check the sync speed (boud rate), some newer systems have a serial chipset wich reacts too fast
this is no joke! We implemented ourselves slow serial cards to communicate with exterior devices
Furthermore beside some improvements (even better & faster communication with serial port chip),
the 90MB difference for SP2 resides mostly
in the firewall, update & additional anti-virus detection
Furthermore, check this:
Are you sure it is the serial connection wich gives a problem?
FTP traffic could slow down if win xp SP2 wants to block the WD after the first run …
you need to sepect unblock
Also try to update FTP a minute later than the time you polled for all data on your weather station(s)
i do know where SP2 has swapped around the com ports too!
i.e com 1 becomes com 2, and vice versa
and so people need to change the com port number in wd!
:o
I switched back to version 10.17y and WD seems much more stable. Have ran allnight without the hangups is see in version 10.18a-f. But I will check the com port baud rates in and see if I can improve the system response within the WD program its self. Seems to be busy waiting on something, but the error logs don’t indicate any problems.
there is another thread
but in the latest version
in the dallas 1 wire setup,
the polling dealy for wind direction/temperature has been incorrectly default to 0
set that to 30 instead (and then clickon save/reset)
try that
