In my main PC I have a Creative Labs sound card with digital output to a set of DTT speakers or line output to some radio equipment and also a Plantronics USB headset with microphone.
Swapping round between these is messy. To listen on the speakers I have to set the sound device to SB Audigy and then set the Digital Output option in the mixer. To use the radio I have to select SB Audigy and unset the Digital Output option in the mixer. To use the headset I have to select the Plantronics device. Unfortunately I reguarly want to swap between them.
Does anyone know of a tool where I would put three icons on my desktop…one for each setting I want, that I could just double click to activate the required option? It’s probably just changing some registry settings, but finding the correct settings could be tricky.
There is a program called Quickmix. I think that may do what you are after. I use it with ham radio because I use a number of different soundcard settings
Cheers

I did wonder about doing that. Do you know of any other macro programs? Macro Scheduler seems like a very expensive and complex way to do this (at $60 per licence).
Yes, it is pricey especially if you get the compiler but very powerful. If you can get a macro working with the eval version (I forget what the limitation is) then I can compile it for you. You might look at Aldo’s Macro Recorder http://aldostools.mysite4now.com/macro.html and there’s another that I’m sure will come to me as soon as I post this.
Coincidentally the Macro Scheduler folks sent me some new product info today which included a competitive upgrade for users of “WinBatch, Automate, Macro Express, Macro Magic” - so I guess those would be good ones for you to look at
Chris,
QuickMix allows you to set the settings for any sound devices and save a file to you desktop. Then a simple click on the desired profile and it automatically adjusts the settings. It’s free.
