Hello from Estonia!

Interested WXSIM.
Dont know which version to buy (WXSIM Downloads), standard, pro /basic, enhanced ?
Autolearn and WXSIM-Lite?

I have weather station froggi(HP1000SE PRO)running now on ecowitt ( Ecowitt Weather) and WU(https://www.wunderground.com/dashboard/pws/IMURAT19). In WU site you can find my exact place!

Wants to get weather forecast(text) by my station data.

How I can test my station data forecast on WXSIM demo? Or can not on demo?

How to get data from my froggi station to WXSIM?(WU api?) Im running Weather Display too.
Is it(WXSIM) working in my place(Estonia)? I mean to get text forecast based by my station.

Have sent email to WXSIM developer too but no answer. Maybe due to time difference - still sleeping.

PS. Have website too. Wants to make online forecast using saratoga script (Saratoga-Weather.org - Scripts - WXSIM display utility) - in this case must I run Weather Display also beside WXSIM in my PC?

Hello Edgar,

I’ll try to answer to your questions for what I know.

  • WXSim can read your local data from Weather Display’s log files. All you must do is to configure WXSim’s setting where to get the data from.
  • I believe WXSim can produce the forecast for you place. With the purchase, your copy of the WXSim will be adjusted to your location.
  • I suggest you start with WXSim standard to get familiar with. Then you can extend it if you like. I have a standard version now and am considering an upgrade to professional and Autolearn.
  • You can not do a forecast test with your station. The demo version produces the forecast for Atlanta. I think the goal is to see what the software looks like and what parameters there are available.
  • In order to present WXSim’s forecast, you need to run Weather Display and WXSim in one PC. Then upload the forecast file(s) to the web server. The PHP script will run in the webserver and present your forecast in its layout.

If WXSim’s developer did not answer yet, you can ping him nicely again. I’m sure he will come back to you.

How developer will know my place exactly(to make adjustments) if I buy soft directly from his webpage?
Dont remember is there any messege box to add some info if I pay by paypal there.
Does standard version can make forecast with my data.
Does standard vers will work with Autolearn?
Does WMIX support froggi weather station? However it can take data from Weather Display im running now.

Hi Edgar,

  • the developer will contact you after your purchase. He will need few days to prepare the configuration for your location. If you have historical data available, that is even better.
  • Standard version will make forecast with your data, yes.
  • For Autolearn, you need to have a Professional version.
  • WXSim does not connect to your weather station. It reads the weather data from the Weather Display’s log files.

You can run WD and WxSim on different computers. WxSimate (the data downloader) just needs to be able to access the WD data across the network. In my case I’m running WD (consolewd) on a Raspberry Pi and WxSim runs on Windows, but if you can map your WD data directory onto another Windows PC you can do it that way too.

Tom is a teacher so tends to be busy during term weekdays so you might have to wait a little longer for a reply.

I’m Tom, WXSIM’s developer! Thanks for your interest in my software!

I see most of your questions have been answered (accurately from what I can tell). I’ll say a bit more about the customization process, though. I ask you for information about your exact location, type of weather station and software, and (if you are ordering the enhanced customization), several months of your station data to analyze. I spend at least a few hours studying your climatology, topography, etc., and bulding data files for your exact location. I also enter your location in databases kindly maintained by Chris McMahon and Sam Bohler for interpolating GFS model data (and very soon, ECMWF data as well!) for your location, to help WXSIM with its forecasts.

usually, the standard (lowest price) option is fine, and you can upgrade later. A possible exception is if you have a particularly unique location (very urban, on a mountain, etc.), for which my study of your historical data would be especially useful.

Hellooooo Tom!

I have station Froggit HP1000SE PRO.
Running only ca 2 weeks at my home. At now I set it up temporally about 5m heigth from ground.
High trees are around home place. So wind data is very weak.
Temporary website for upload from WD http://nautical.hotserv.eq.ee/wsWxsimX/okka.html. Offcourse must make corrections. For learning setup.
So better is wait several months to collect data for you?
My exact location is 58.259609, 22.602859E (https://www.wunderground.com/weather/ee/muratsi/IMURAT19).
-for GFS and later ECMWF if ready.
Set it up on Ecowitt also (Ecowitt Weather).
Here is no mountains. Living out of our little town Kuressaare(metar EEKE) about 8km (in forest).
Started to use Weather Display software on my laptop ca 2-3 days ago.
Wants to use WXSIM for weather forecasting by my station data abńalysis to my homepage. So as I read your wxsim page there is little soft to learn automatically(AutoLearn-WX). And its working only with WXSIM PRO?
My question was which one to by. I understand version PRO with enhanced customization is best for that?
But you need data for several months? Sooo loong to wait offcourse :D.

I have data continuous collecting from 15.09.22 in ecowitt! There can download in xlsx format. But wind data is not quite realistic because of low station heigth. Is it ok for you?
