Where to put Temp sensor

I have my WS3600 main temp unit sited on the house roof in full sun and am getting some rather high temp readings compared to others around me, Should the unit be in shade

You could do what I did with my OS-918N, and build a stevenson screen for it.

But you definately need to keep your temp sensor out of the sun.

And there is a thread on here (that I can’t find at the moment), that shows a solar fan that you could add to the stevenson screen. I believe the fan was less than $30US.

add: Here’s the thread with the solar vent I was talking about…

Alternatively you might think about the ready to build screen at http://www.metcheck.co.uk/. I’ve no idea what it’s like, but it struck me that

Originally for convenience sake (since it was the middle of winter), I first mounted my temp sensor [WS2317]on a south facing cedar deck attached to my house. As spring came, the temps became exceedingly high for a balmy spring day (like 90 deg.!) because of the absorption and reflectivity of the wood. I then mounted it in a shaded corner above my north facing front porch. Even though it was in a shaded corner, the direct sunlight came to within two feet of it, and the temps were still abnormally high because of the asphalt shingles. It’s now mounted below that overhang on the porch which is constantly and totally in complete shade ( it even has some moss growing on a corner of the concrete floor). The sunlight doesn’t get more than ten feet from the sensor, and the readings seem realistic (e.g., yesterday on my car’s temp sensor it was 101o F, WD said the high for the day was 93o.
So, yes, in my novice opinion, I’d mount it in a constantly shaded but open area, preferably north-facing.

I have one OS WMR968 and have the sensor inside a radiation shield made with plates of plastic.
To approximately 5 meters I have installed my Davis Vantage Pro2 and the temperatures are almost identical.
The minimal temperatures are a bit low in the Oregon (about 0,5
