What does it mean when?

What does it mean when?

  1. The pointer on a dial blinks from red to green repeatedly?

  2. The wind speed graph has green traces? (I assume blue is steady and red is gust).

  3. Just outside the upper left of the windspeed graph there is a green scale numbered from 90-115? (max gust on graph is 15 mph). Sometimes its just a block of tiny dots.

  4. On the “Weather Dials” window, I push the rocker switch to the left of the “Current” dial either up or down and it changes the scales of the “Current” and “Average” dials, but just momentarily?

  5. I see a “cloud base” shown? Is this coming from the Metar or is it being estimated in W-D?

Thanks,
Larry

  1. Green is low wind speed
  2. That is estimated in WD by the humidity leave, higher humidity, lower cloud base.

Hi

I amnot sure where this is…can you post a screen shot?
thanks

that rocker switch is a bit of a relic, and i guess I should remove it, as you can set the maximum dial scale in the units setup now

I’m ignorant about “low wind speed”. It never was an item on previous software. I’m guessing that is the lowest speed recorded during the measurement period. True?

Is there a definition for “gust”, etc someone can point me to?

Thanks,
Larry

hi
gust is often , for alot of stations, just the current windspeed…or the maximum of the current windspeed readings (i.e like each minute)

Thanks Brian.

Hey, the remaining question from my group above is 1. What does it mean when the pointer on a dial blinks from red to green repeatedly? Any thoughts?

BTW, the item in Q#3 hasn’t come back, but I’ll do a screen shot when/if it does.

Larry

it just means that the maximum have not been reached yet …
i wish i could stop it doing that…but i cant with the component i am using… :frowning: 8O

Brian,

I have sent you a screen shot in response to your request of Thu 19 Aug 2004 2354.

The original question was

“3. Just outside the upper left of the windspeed graph there is a green scale numbered from 90-115? (max gust on graph is 15 mph). Sometimes its just a block of tiny dots.”

Sometimes it looks different, and might actually be 2 separate blocks. If it isn’t showing, changing any screen colors seems to bring it back. It usually goes away after a while, but returns periodically.
