What do I download to upgrad3 WD?

Another dumb question! I’m a little confused whenever I decide it’s time to upgrade WD. When I go to the “download” page I always find what looks to me to be three files possible upgrade files similar to these:

Weather Display 10.16a
for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP & NT
Version on 23. August 2004 - 03:42:48 hr

Weather Display Beta 10.16
for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP & NT
Version on 22. August 2004 - 05:16:46 hr

Weather Display exe zip (unzip to WD is installed) 10.16a
for Windows 98 / 2000 / ME / XP & NT
Version on 23. August 2004 - 11:09:03 hr

Can someone tell me which would be the proper one to dowanload to upgrade to the latest version?

TIA

It depends what you mean by the latest version  If you just want to upgrade and don’t have a special interest in something very new that’s in the beta, then you can take either the first option, or the zip option. The first one is a full install package. Download it, shut down WD and just run this install to upgrade. The zip is smaller and therefore downloads faster, download it, shut down WD and unzip it to update the files and restart WD.

Thanks. I did try the zip version once and it seems that time I had problems and had to roll back to a previous version. Also, looking at the options, it looked like the “beta” version was older than the first option. (BTW, in case you haven’t noticed, I’m easily confused! :frowning: )

I have always just downloaded the zip file to update the WD program itself.

if I ever find the need to use WDL then I would need to download a “full install” to get the clientraw ftp program and anything else that has been added/updated.

But for now all I need is a relatively up to date WD program so the zip file is fine.

yes, it pays to download either the full or beta …
to get updates to other programs
i often use the beta for one on one with someone, to debug/fix something

when you unzip the downloaded zip verison, make sure you unzip to where you have weather display installed, and never delete any files or do any uninstall…thats not needed…just exit wd first, and any other associated programs running,…

I have a reasonably fast connection so I don’t mind downloading the full version. I really don’t notice much difference between the full and the zip as far as download time. So, it boils down to this–should I download the full or the beta version?

full, but beta if you want the very latest additions or fixes (check the history), if its a more recent time for the file on the download page
