Phil,
I have two copies of both WD and IS running, one with a netcam and one with a USB camera. Both work very well except IS can’t read the WD’s CSV file if you want to put any info from WD on the canvass, like temp or something.
I do a local save only in IS and have WD pick them up for uploading. I am very pleased with ImageSalsa because I have a much wider selection of cams now and not just a USB camera. In my setups it is very helpful in the winter to be able to separate the cam and computer further than 20 feet or so like a USB camera. My current USB cam will be another netcam as soon as I get around to it. I’ve got the cam.
You can Email if you want, if you have any specific question.
Jim,
Thanks for your reply. I finally got IS and WD to display my image in the summary graphic. Have to see how it runs today, as it stopped working two days in a row at 4:45 a.m.
One thing I noticed with IS, I can’t even do a click and paste with the tags, I understand you can’t get IS to read WD’s CSV file, but did you find the same problem?
Thanks again, Phil
why is it not reading the file correct?
maybe i have not formated the file correctly?
anyone done a comparison of what it should look like?
Brian,
Not having used IS before I’m not sure. If I can figure something out I’ll let you know.
Phil
Brian,
I have no idea why it won’t read the csv file. It reads it maybe once per hour (can’t see a pattern) when I have it set up to read once every minute and update the file too. When I had the problem Jason looked at my csv file and said he couldn’t see anything wrong. I think you said the same…it’s been awhile…so I dropped it and went on without it. I need IS so I can use a network camera instead of a USB camera.
I need IS so I can use a network camera instead of a USB camera.Hi Jim! What network cam do you have, and can you explain why it needs IS? I've been thinking of getting one of the linksys wireless ones so maybe I would run into the same issue.
re IS and the WD vws style data file problem:
i would think that jason should be able to step through the compiler, with a sample file that not working correctly, to see where the problem is…
Niko.,
I have two D Links, a 1000 and a 2100+. The second one I just have not had time to get up and running but will in the next few weeks. I am off to Europe next week so I’ll be shut down for awhile.
Finding a program that would take a snapshot with a net cam was not easy, a few months ago anyway. Snapshot is the operative word here. They all want to record streaming video and not just a single jpg. IS stepped up to the plate though and it is stable as a rock.
The D Links were a trade off between cost and quality. I am not doing back flips (would break something anyway) over the picture quality, especially at a distance, but it’s not bad for the bucks. If you have 2-3x the money to spend, there’s some nice net cams out there. I didn’t care for pan and tilt either because I don’t want to mess with a static IP just yet.
IS “talks” to some net cams but not all and their webpage is not up to date on this either so you have to do a search through their forum. Some of those guys are real serious about their cams and have lots of bucks to spend. Most noteably, the VEO net cams do not work with IS and they are the most reasonably priced.
Hope this answers.
Hi All!
I’m using Imagesalsa with a D-link DCS-900W network camera. When I don’t have the camera protected with a password, IS sees the image fine (as a graphic in a canvas). As soon as I put an admin user and password on the camera (I don’t want it wide open on the net), Imagesalsa can’t access the image anymore.
Has anyone run into this type of problem?
Thanks very much!
HI
i have fixed a bug with the data.csv file for image salsa in 10.18x
that was stopped image salsa from reading the data.
thanks to a user who found out what was wrong ( i was setting the seconds as milliseconds instead of seconds)
