one problem though, is that it requires that that data be in the clientraw.txt file (all time records), which it isnt at the moment…but it could be added…i,.e the most important ones…but one of the problems is that the file then gets bigger and bigger…
but its an interesting idea!

Yes, as Brian says, could be done by adding to clientraw. WDL works best where it’s displaying info that’s changing in real time but the all time weather is fairly static and could just as well be viewed in a normal web page. However if the general consensus is for WDL to display it then it could be done.

One of the many new features that will be available in v2 is the ability to make a web link available on any object. Therefore you could create a web link on your temperature thermometer which would bring up a web page showing temperature trends, graphs, all time records etc.
Another new feature is that you’ll be able to have an indefinite number of config files so you could even link it to another WDL page where you just showed more thermometers zoomed in to fill the screen - did I mention that you’ll be able to configure size, visibility and position of any object?

No I didn’t - but it will! Hopefully it will be ready in the next couple of weeks.

I have to agree to keep the file as small as possible, maybe Brian another page on WD to upload another *.txt file. with records that can be updated once per day… as this is all that is needed. Julian might be able to add another button to some fancy page with details…

At first I did not like the suggestions that are adding non-realtime information to WDL (and clientraw.txt). But if it is in a second, less-often updated file, it would be ok.
We obviously need to keep the size of the clientraw.txt file small, since most of us are uploading it every 5 seconds. Even with cable/dsl bandwidth, we don’t want to over do it.
So, keep the “live” date in clientraw.txt and put the extra information in another file that can be uploaded less often… like even every 5 minutes via the regular ftp sessions.
actyauly, the separate clientrawrealtimeftp.exe, i can easily get it upload, say, clientraw2.txt, i.e a file name the same as uploaded normaly (i.e you can change it), but with 2 on the end of it, and that will have any extra not so live data in it, say uploading once an hour??
and then julian has wdl use that file…
Sounds good. What data does everyone want displayed from the second feed? Presumably all time records, graphs of temp, rain, wind over the last 24 hours?

OK. I may have to delay v2 a little as it makes sense to add it all into that version and I don’t want to release it just before I go away on holiday

Can the horizontal scales be less often (say hourly) so that the graphs are easier to read. I find the general WD graphs far to “busy”. I suppose this is down to frequency of upload?

If you want to configure WDL to look different or offer different sensors displayed then you'll need to change values within it's xml configuration file. There'll be plenty of notes about how to do this!
