It rained quite a bit yesterday, and right now the temp and dew point are so close together it appears exact so there is a lot of moisture in the air but it is not raining…not even a drizzle…
My Davis Station monitor is reading Daily Rain 0.00 and Rain Rate 0.00
Sun is up etc now…and it’s still humid as all could be but I’ve been reading at least a 0.145 Rain_Rate consistently since my last post…
What’s really bugging me is that my station monitor has never left 0.00 in/hr under rain rate…so why would WD disagree? I thought WD got it’s info directly from what the Davis VP was reporting?
I have also noted that a 90 pound dog jumping on the deck will make it rain too
P.S. one is only 65lbs and the other is still a puppy at 55lbs...so he wont reach his full weight of a 100lbs for another few months. Doubt that's causing it  Then again...I guess if they both jumped at the same time........
hi
wd calculates its own rainfall rate…
but it looks like it got stuck!
so i will put some checks in place to make sure it doesnt get stuck…
a few people have reported this
each second WD recalculates the current rain rate…as mm/minute…
so once the rain stops, the rain rate start top go down…once it has been longer time this the last rain tip was…i.e each rain tip, the rate changes…it might go up…
but it looks like what might have happened is it stopped recalculating it
there is a rain rate in the data from the VP…i will see about using that instead as an option

Kewl!
I’m trying to prove to a friend…who is in the market for a weather station that WD is the right software to go with because the support/active development is on the ball… You’re making that much easier for me Brian
we had a good shower of rain, and I have found the correct data position in the data from the VP, but I had the units wrong
also, i compared WD’s mm/hr with the VP console, and they agreed with each well…and the rates both dropped down the same too,.,
i also made a few tweaks in the code to stop the wd rain rate not getting to zero problem, hopefully, in 10.15q beta
tomorrow wit more showers coming, i will do more work on the rain rate from the vp//./
Ok Davis VP Station is reporting between 3 and 6 in/hr and that’s what was showing in WD screen but what was being uploaded to the MySQL DB and what was showing on the web page was 0.00 in/hr rain_rate…
So something is still not quite working right for recording the rain_rate directly from Davis VP
