WD on fresh Ubuntu 20.4.3 "Runtime error 217" issuee

Hello all!

I’m hoping that someone might be able to help with this - I’ve done lots of searching but have not found a solution to what seems like should be a non-issue…

I am wanting to get away from Windows as it keeps crashing, which isn’t so good for posting the data from my weather station to the web! However, I have not been able to get WD to run on Linux…

Fresh install Ubuntu Linux 20.04.3 64 bit
4 GB RAM Intel® Core™ i3-2367M CPU @ 1.40GHz × 4
WD v 10.37Linux Build 332
Oregon Sci WMRS 200
ReadMe.txt directions followed

WD will not run - I always get a runtime error 217

I’ve tried
-chmod 777 on all files
-sudo ./weatherdisplay
-directory in home/user/Documents or in home/user/wdisplay

Permissions now
ls -l /dev/weather
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 15 Jan 4 13:35 /dev/weather → bus/usb/003/003

I really don’t know what to try next…

Hello again!

I managed to get around this by installing Xubuntu 21.10, after which weatherdisplay would at least start to run using “sudo ./weatherdisplay”, but then quit at the “Exception EInOutError in module weatherdisplay”

This was fixed by putting a newhomelocation.txt file containing the location of the wdisplay folder in it (for me /home/wdisplay/), in the wdisplay folder.

Curious how the older 20.04 LTS version of Ubuntu wouldn’t work…
