WD not updating to web - settings unchanged - Help!

Hi Folks
The last time the web page updated was on Friday at 1745, it’s meant to update every 15 minutes - see webpage below

http://homepages.inspire.net.nz/~imhill/Tawa_weather.htm

I haven’t changed any settings (that I know of) as I didn’t realise until this morning (Monday) when I got to work and checked the webpage out :?. WD has been working fine on the computer at home and graphing everything etc. so I assumed it was updating.
I’ve checked that the main internet switch is on, and I’ve checked that the FTP host settings are correct
The computer WD runs on is only used for WD and is connected via the hub to the internet. The hub is working, the WD computer is connected to the hub and will connect to the internet - I’ve tried.
The FTP error log shows the following:
list of files uploaded*
actual messages from upload session*
Start Time/date:5:46:06 p.m. 30/03/2009
Permanent connection selected
Permanent connection, will do ftp now

It appears that the program isn’t making up the files to upload, the “summary” in the webfiles folder still (unsurprisingly) shows the 1745 summary icon on the webpage
Any help on what’s wrong and what to do most appreciated

if you have the switch on in the customise internet and file creation setup then make sure you have times set there to create and upload the files needed
also check that maybe you have turned the switch on in the custom web page in the web files/web page setup
otherwise .zip and email me your settings files

Hi Brian,

thanks for the quick reply,
All the times etc appear to be in the upload schedule, all other switches appear to be off except for the main internet one

This is where the computerphobe takes off - which are the settings files you require? Once known I’ll zip them and send them

there is a FAQ on how to do that

what shows under view, ftp log, view full log?
for me I get:
Logging onto FTP server…homepages.inspire.net.nz
11004: [11004] Valid name, no data record (check DNS setup)

with your settings

which looks like a problem with your ftp/isp provider

(I tried adding a ftp to the front but that did not help (i.e ftp.homepages.inspire.net.nz )

Hi Brian,

Sorry about being a long time getting back - has something to do with work getting in the way

I assume you mean view, ftp log, view other log?

The last few on it say the following:

Still at a loss - as there appears to be now files created to upload! do you thing installing a new version of WD over the top might help?

try using the customise internet and file creation setup
turn the override switch on there
and then set the times to create and times to upload the files needed
and also make sure the remote file name is set correctly too via the upload times

Hi Brian,

I will try what you’ve suggested - it may take some time as not being a computer guru like yourself I’m a little hesitant at mucking about with things.
What is the remote file name you’re referring to?

when you set the upload times, there you will see the remote file name, for each file
WD should pick up the correct one, needed for your website, but check that it has done that OK

Hi Brian,

Tried the suggested option of the customise internet settings, set what I thought were the correct images with creation and upload times at 15 min. intervals - these tmes are the same for both creation and upload.
At the appointed time - nothing :frowning:
Then had an idea and tried the “create this file now” and the “upload this file now” which went spiffingly
and the data was transferred up to the homepage: http://homepages.inspire.net.nz/~imhill/Tawa_weather.htm
So it works when done manually - obviously the question is why not automatically? As sitting here creating and uploading each file every 15 mins. is going to get a bit time consuming.

do you have the override switch on in the customise internet and file creation setup?

also , what speed PC and how much memory?
also any errors under view, program event log?

Hi Brian,

Yep, override switch on and green

Computer is a pentium4 2.40GHz with 256 Mb of RAM, dedicated to Wd using Windows XP

Last 10 lines of errors on program event log (all the lines appear to be the same!):

ERROR: Invalid floating point operation at time/date 7:18:02 p.m. 02/04/09

Light at the end of the tunnel - at least the UV appears to be graphing daily values now!

thats the problem then, those errors
which version of WD are you using (and build)?
also try running the debug version, which should produce a error report (WeatherD.elf)
I will update that the debug version too

Good Morning Brian,

Nice to be sitting in (as the weather girl on TV3 described it) one of the largest highs in the world today - pass the grass?

I’ll get the version and build number when I get home tonight - but I think it’s the latest version

Do I just download the debug version like an update for the normal program? When the error report has been generated I’ll Flick you an email with it attached.

Regards

Iain

yes, download and install like normal
I will update the debug version now
