WD database

Another daft question - sorry Brian but Iam overwhelmed by the amount of choices and cannot always work out the impact of chosing one or not.

have got the WD Db installed in the same directory as my WD system. Have configured ODBC and can open database viewer - where there was a load of old data.

Cleared the table using access, but cannot seem to get any new data in.
I have ticked the option that says enable saving for separate WD database. BUt have no data even after 24 hours. This includes a reboot and restart of WD.

I am sure I am missing something … but what ??

are you running the database at the same time WD is running? its the only way it will save the data. You did say you went through the hoops and specified the database directory ? IF you did, then run the run WD, then start up the database. It should begin to save according to your archive interval. BUt they both have to be running at the same time.

Hi
Yes both are running at the same time. No i didnt say I specified the directory where the DB is placed. I said it was in the same directory as WD. I cannot find where in the settings I path the location of the WD Db file.

I have checked the box that says export data to WD database (or similar)

Confused…

Ahhh - just re-read last post… didnt realise that the db had to be running at the same time. I assumed that WD just pushed values into the MDB file automatically…

I’ll try loading the db to see whjat happens

Cheers

well I’ll be blowed…

Next problem is what happens on an unattended reboot. Does the DB need to be logged on with that rather pointless logon screen. Or will the fact that I have a shortcut in my startup dir be sufficient. If the former will it catch up on old data once logged on?

you will have to have the separate database program starting when windows starts…
as for the login and password, thats a requirement of a MS access…i couldnt see a way around it…anyone know a way around that?

as for missed data…until that login is done…i could get it to store it in a file…to update once activated…
